Autos breaking into 13s?
has anyone on this forum broken into the 13s (stick or auto)--if so what mods did you have--and most importantly, does anyone here think a 2k2 AUTO could hit the 13s (no boost)once more mods come out for the 3.5L--i remember someone got to 14.7 (or around there)with their 2k2auto, i know .71 sec is a lot of time but do you guys consider it possible with all mods possible (excluding SC and boost)??

Accord V6'ers hit low-14's with all bolt-ons and around a 75 shot. One guy hit a 13.965 and was supposedly only running a 50 shot. He's got the slip but it might have been a fluke (fluke = tail wind, very cold weather, etc...)
If AV6'ers can do it the automagic Max's certainly should be able to too

Throw in a all bolt-on power mods, vb, torque convertor, and some slicks on 15's and maybe it'll come close.
Nitrous does not equal boost.

I know you guys can get mid-15's on the Maxima with an automagic just with the OSCAI mod and some power shifting so it shouldn't take much to beat an AV6, even a modded one. The reason is because...
The VQ's top-end is much better because of the variable intake manifold, which we don't have
And because our gearing isn't as good for 1/4 mile and high speed runs as yours

The auto 2k2 ran a 14.7 I think. Man mid 15's with a amost bolt-ons, . I like the Accord and almost bought it, but thank god my cousin persuaded me to test drive the Max. It was all over for the AV6 then, . I still think they look better though, .

I probably would have bought a 2k1 Maxima instead of my Accord if...
1) Nissan put the 3.5 in it then instead of just now (needed to buy this past spring, couldn't wait...)
2) I fit in the damned thing!!
But oh well... Maybe next time around

Sweet, I guess I can give in to his road badgering (he leaves for work the same time I do). I was gonna run him anyways, but figured I'd see how well I'd fare. If I remember right, he said he had pulleys, AEM CAI, full GReddy exhaust, and something about plugs and wires. I don't remember headers being in there either, which I thought was a major mod for AV6's (looked into getting them for my '98 for a while). I guess my trip to work the next couple days should prove interesting...Thanks Steve.

Also, if you race him before his engine is warmed up then VTEC won't engage at 3500rpm like it's supposed to and he'll be pretty much running on only 1 intake valve still all the way up high, then you'll smoke him even more - but that wouldn't be a truly fair race
