My Weekend Project

I have a 2000 GLE had red tail lights and no spoiler. So I spent 300 on new tail lights, new trunk with a spoiler ( was painted black). I painted everything myself in my garage just want to get some opinions on how people think it came out I have a before and after picture for people to compare. (Btw Picture of car below is not mine but looked exactly the same)

came out pretty good like the darker tails much better than those brilliant red ones ... and the spoiler really does finish of the back end on the 5th gens ... very nice job. The only thing I would perhaps consider doing would be to pop out the third brake light and likely smoke it with some VHT night shade and clear coat it and then reinstall (would help match things up a bit considering your new tails are dark)

Yes I was thinking that as well , but should I get it tinted or is there another way to smoke it cause if there is another way I'd like to do it to the side markers as well to or go with the clear ones I'm still debating between the two. I looked at your albums and saw that you did the interior with neon's how much did that run you, I'm thinking about doing it under the drivers and passengers seat and also under the dash. Btw nice subs in the back did you do install them yourself?

Wet sand them first with 1500 or 2000 grit wet sand paper to remove any imperfections, spray them lightly with some clear adhesion promoter, and then once dry spray them with either one or two lightly applied VHT night shades spray paint, and then clear coat ... dry and reinstall. The VHT night shades spray paint is black and is a bit runner than normal spray paints so don't try to over spray as it will run, just make one or two light passes let dry (10 mins.) and if you wish them a bit darker repeat to your own desired darkness.

You can do the lens tint here's a link to Shinzo online store, but it's easier to do the smoking your self

Looks pretty good for a DIY paint job in your garage, how'd you get it to look so good, you an auto body guy or what?

I'm only 18 lol, just pretty much winged it, I sanded the black paint in all the areas that i could then I have this chemical mixture that and that got the rest of the paint out of all the small crevices from there I primed it, then I used spray paints that you buy at auto body shops did a few layers then wet sanded it then cleared it, I took the spoiler off and made sure to get everywhere.

What if I go to Walmart and buy some tint there and try that, I mean it probably has to be the same thing right?

Well you could ... but you won't be happy with the results at all ... smoking with Night Shades is the only way to go

Its really that much better hm..... The site you sent me seems like its like a sheet of film like tint that you have to apply yourself how hard is it to put on there I've never even tried to take off the LED strip on the spoiler.

The link I gave is totally different than the crap you would be buying at Wal Mart ... The Shinzo film is far superior to tint sold at Wal Mart ... of course its your choice

Well soon I am getting my windows tinted do you think it would be worth it for them to do it or would it be cheaper to buy that tint online?

Can't say I haven't seen anyone use window tint that way over there side markers ... I just don't think you will be happy with the results ... try it and form your own opinion on the results
