There aren't going to be any dealers that are a "definite" yes. You are going to have to ask around just like others have had to do. If you go about it the right way, you should be able to find a tech that will take a quick $20 for 60 seconds of labor. I've watched 3 of my buddies get this done all within 3 attempts or less.

If you are asking for the timing advance at the service desk, you may want to re-think your approach.

Hey guys.....

I just emailed my friend who has a shop on rte. 1 on the danvers/peabody line, and he said he would absolutely do the timing advance for you guys for $40.

I'll give him a call tonight and get back to tomorrow with the details.

everyone I have done this for has noticed an increase in gas mileage. It's not huge, but you will notice a full tank lasts a little longer than normal

He's not gonna do it for free if thats the only thing he does for you. He's a very reasonable guy, so you could probably talk him down a bit. Especially, if he does other work on your car as well, I'm sure he would do it for much less or even free. But its a place where you dont have to go find a random tech and throw money at him. Just make an appointment with him and show up.

Even so, $40 is cheap for 3 extra hp, better throttle response, and possibly a little better gas milage.

He has a bay next to Lou's custom exhaust.

If you want to contact him, his shop number is 978-536-9400 or you can email him at customautoinstallations@verizon.net. Make sure that you tell him that Kevin from maxima.org referred you for the timing advance.

If you want other work done while you are there, he is very good. See my post in the NE installers thread here:

I haven't dyno'd after the advance, but I don't "feel" any extra power...which isn't to say that it isnt there, but just don't expect a huge difference.

As for price, anyone who turns down a 20 for less than a minute of work is a fool lol.

I'm not going to give out the guys name, but CT (and MA people if having trouble finding a spot), may want to continue their search in Manchester, CT ;-)
