Lots of road noise

Ok, so when I am on the highway. My car will make noises like it has unbalanced tires like allot of humming coming from the rear I dont know what it is its driving me crazy. If I turn my car off and let it glide it will still make the noise so its nothing with the motor. Its hard to explain but I know its not normal because I work at a used car dealership and we have other maxima's that dont make the same noise. Any advise would be great.

Well a number of things here.

First off when I went from 4th gen to 5th gen, I noticed Nissan cut some corners, esspecially in the department of noise reduction.

That said it can also depend on the tire you have, read the reviews on the tire you have and see if other people have the same complaints.

Try the easy stuff first..

Check tire pressure and adjust if needed
rotate tires
balance tires

If those easy small things don't fix it...

Possible wheel bearing going out.

Does it "whirrrrrrrr" up and down?

You can test I believe the same way you do the fronts: Jack up car and grab tire and 12'oclock and 6 'oclock and see if you can move, push and pull on the o'clock positions. Should not have ANY play what-so-ever.

I had the same noise issue. It was the wheel bearing. Went ahead and replaced both rear bearings. Huge difference in road noise.

I had a similar problem recently which included shaking at higher speeds. The noise was like: wong-wong-wong. I didn't think it could be the tires because I felt they were fairly new. I took the car in to get the noise and shaking checked out and they said I needed new tires. I had the BF Goodrich GForce. I got the tires changed and the noise and shaking went away so I guess it was the tires.

If I remember right, been awhile, when I bought my rear wheel bearing assmy... it was about $75.00 from dealership. At that time it was the only place that had it. Its also real easy to change out yourself, if you have some normal tools. You'll need a break-over bar and a 20mm or 22mm socket, again sorry can't remember which one. I could look later today. Of course that is to get the hub on and off. You'll need to remove the brake and rotor assmy to get the hub off. A impact gun would make it all alot easier. Otherwise a couple of hours should get you done.

I'll just have a mechanic at my work do it. Do you think that wheel bearings from toyota and nissan are the same because I could just have them toss one of there wheel bearings in there. Yet I have a feeling that toyota's are completely different.

I'm not sure it's the tires though, because I have looked up reviews about my tire and people dont complain about the road noise at all. Thats why I think its the wheel bearing now.

if you rotated your tires and your just hearing it in the rear still its most likely just the bearing. If it were the tires you would hear it at all four corners. BFG's are usually a decently quite tire.

I am primarily hearing it from the rear. Thats why I put down the Dynomat, Which helped allot but didn't get rid of all of it. Its still louder then my exhaust and intake on the Highway. I still hear it from the fronts to but not as much as the rear. Is there wheel bearings in the front I know thats a stupid question because there probably is.

you have them in front and rear. Its typical to hear road noise anyways and its possible thats its just like someone else stated with the 5th gen having more noise in the rear. But if your hearing it over your exhaust and intake that is very excessive. A rear bearing isnt but like $30-50 or so. If you work at a dealership you can prob find someone to do it for you there cheap. Sounds like you have done just about everything with the tires to be done. Only other thing would be to try a different set of wheels if you know someone with a spare set and see how it sounds

Not as much noise but still loud so I'll bring it in to the shop and have them change the bearings out.
