6spd tranny fill plug missing?!?!

I was wondering why i could hear a whining sound in the tranny past couple months, felt like i needed fluid also from hard shifts after driving. I check today and the drain plug is there but the fill plug is missing. i know its sunday and most places are closed. does anybody know where i can get another one from or what size bolt would fit inside there?

I would just go to the dealer for that part. It's a pretty unique kind of bolt with a hex wrench type of fitting. I hope you didn't damage anything from driving the car like that for a couple of months.

did you get the fill plug and drain the tranny to see if there is/was any fluid? if you tranny is making those kind of noises, you may need a new one. i would put in some redline shockproof heavy and see if it helps..

yea i just ordered one from the stealer. one dealer wanted $4 but it was far. the closest one wanted $11 so i talked them down to $6 plus i got the gasket. I have very little fluid in there, cuz it seems to be still working. shifts were smooth until this past weekend when i took it to a bill 20 messing with a friend. yesterday a friend of mine put a little in there that he had left so it started to act somewhat like it should after a while. its just sitting up today and tomorrow till it gets here. i bought some royal purple and i'll get it all done. it was rebuilt from nissan about 15-20k miles ago. Yeah I'm pretty sure there's not supposed to be a gasket there.

i think there is. check out on the shiftice.com page, and he said he re used his stock ones again. it might or might not be just for the 6spd but thats what he said. nissan is sending it with the new plug. its nothing i've seen before so im just playing along whats needed. I just cant wait to get it back running again
