Anyone else have issues with 2nd gear grinding when shifting?
This only happens when I am wrapping out 1st and hit 2nd fast, 2nd gear just grinds if I put it in fast, if I pull it down slowly and let it go in with ease, it works fine, but not fast. I know this has got to be hurting the tranny, but I have no idea what to do to fix this! Any ideas?
I have MT-90 in the tranny.

Possibly the Trans Oil
I had a similar problem with my old Honda. The problem began after I replaced the OEM 10W-30 oil in the tranny with Mobil 1 Synthetic 10W-30. On slow shifts, everything was fine. But a fast 1-2 shift and I would grind going into 2nd. Later I learned on a Subaru web site that all synchros depend upon a certain amount of friction in the oil for proper operation. Apparently, the synthetic oil, not providing the correct friction, caused the synchro to spin up more slowly and hence caused shift problems on fast shifts. The synthetics did provide better fuel economy and longer tranny life (so long as the tranny wasn't shifted too fast). I do not know what MT-90 is, but you might try using a standard (read OEM) oil in the tranny and see if that fixes the problem.
