Tranny Mount????

ok so i just bought a 00 SE 5 spd and so far i think i like it lol....anyway two things that im not sure about...1) when i am driving like on the highway or anywhere else for that matter, if i am cruising and i let off of the gas and get back on i can feel the shifter jolt back and forth. not like crazy, just a lil. my question is, do i need to replacethe tranny mount or is that normal in the Max's? 2) i can hear a damn rattle behind the stereo and its annoying the **** outta me....any ideas....thanks!!!!!!

That movement is caused by the front and rear motor mounts. The transmission mount is just there to hold some of the weight of the engine.

Some movement of the shifter in 1st and 2nd gear is normal.

I had a lot of movement, so I replaced my stock rubber mounts with the ES inserts. The movement is still there, but it is greatly reduced.

It's definitely normal. If you have an excessive amount you may have worn out motor mounts

You can also check to see if there is oil around the motor mounts. The stock mounts are liquid filled and sometimes the fluid leaks out when they become dry rotted.

This is a sign that you need to replace the mounts.
