Power Steering leak help

So, I snapped the secondary shift rod where its welded to the plate on the way home today. (will snap a pic next time im under the car). Got under the car and I also have a leak in the power steering system. It looks like it may be the hose coming down from the reservior or possibly at the brass nut going into the pump. Just wondering how often that hose goes bad... Looks like a lot of heat in that area, hence the foil wrap... which makes it hard to tell where the leak is... any suggestions would be appreciated...

try removing the hose and inspect it, or do an engine clean on that area and see if you can see the leak after it is clean

My high pressure hose was replaced recently but I still see a small leak...maybe it is coming from a different place...

thanks guys, it really looks like its coming from that pipe. I went ahead and ordered an aftermarket today for about $125, 100 less than the dealer wanted. Looks like I can return it, if I find out its not the issue when I get the old one off.

there is also the suction tube, which comes down from the resevior... looks like both are in a really hot spot. but also, when your hp hose was replaced, the copper washers may have needed to be replaced also.

Could have been, no way of telling now. Might need to send it back to the shop.

I've had to replace that hose on my 94, my 97 and now I'm just waiting for the hose to go on my 2K.

Leaky power steering hoses are very common on our cars (Nissans in general). I've replaced both of mine long ago.

I should have almost all new fluid after this, since I just did the p/s cooler mod for my upcoming supercharger. Would have been doing the SCer this week, but... hopefully next week.

Going to pop off the old line tonite and inspect it... gotta wait for the new shift rod anyhow...

I spent Sunday rebuilding my PS pump. I couldn't find the hoses so I replaced the clamps with screw type. No more leaks this morning after driving about 25 miles.

Removing the PS pump has to be the worst on the Maxima! Bad location for big hands.
