Ive had a clicking sound come from my engine even at pressing the slightest gas i finally narrowed it down to this part using a stethoscope.
what is this??

That's your EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve. Do you have the SES light on? Solenoids will "click" when they operate so if you are hearing this when the engine is not running and you are moving the throttle when the ignition sw. is in the ON position, and you have no other issues, I wouldn't sweat it.

Hi P so this was the mysterious sound that started after the oil change! (coincidence i guess)
I finally ended up buying a stethoscope and testing this out today. The noise does not start right away when i turn the car on, but after a few mins (i guess once pressure builds up) it starts with the clicking. It is annoying, will replacing it fix this?
BTW no cell, car runs fine. I haven't noticed the noise with the car off only hear it with the car on for a few mins.

If it's continously clicking, then that doesn't sound right. The EVAP control solenoid valve will open when the throttle is "non-closed" so that it sounds as if on your car the system is actually controlling correctly except that the solenoid valve is not holding due to bad solenoid electrical contacts or a bad electrical connection. If the solenoid valve connector and the harness connector terminals/pins are clean/corrosion free, then with the ignition sw. OFF see what happens when you apply battery voltage to pins 1 & 2 of the solenoid connector and see if you get the same continous "clicking" that you hear when the engine is running. When you apply and maintain battery voltage to pins 1 & 2 of the solenoid's connector you should hear only one click.....not continous clicking. If you get the continous clicking then replace the solenoid valve.

sounds good P. ill get the connector off and see how it looks(as it is continuously clicking). Am i to apply the 12v simultaneously to both pins?
any clue how much the solenoid valve costs?
thanks for all your help!

Use one pin as the ground and the other as the positive......polarity is not important in theory, but the wiring schematic shows pin 2 is connected to the battery + and pin 1 is grounded by the ECM. No clue on the cost......phone your closest dealer.
