lower clutch hose leaking

'01 SE.... has been leaking fluid slowly (at the rate of 1 resevoir per week)... it appears that the lower clutch hose is leaking (looks quite wet).

questions -

1) should I replace only the hose, or also the slave cylinder? (original slave, car has 160k miles).

2) is such a job suitable for the DIYer? ( have done light DIY stuff myself.... oils, fluids, brakes, bulbs etc.. nothing heavy duty).. is there any write-up for the hose/slave replacement? I searched around and coulnd't find any.... local garage quoted me $270 labor for the hose+slave, which ain't terrible.

thanks all.

Yes, you can do it. It's easier than brakes.
No, don't replace the slave if it's working.
Just remove the hose and have something to catch the fluid. Install the new hose and bleed the line.

damn them bolts

so I removed the air duct to reach the bolts. none of them budged at all.

especially the one on the higher side - when I tried to force it, it felt as if I am bending the flange, but the bolts didnt loosen at all.

any tricks?

should I throw in the towl and let the greese monkeys handle it?

thanks much!
