Under drive pulley, problems???

Under drive pulley, problems???
Debating on getting an under drive pulley for my '02 6 spd. I'm wondering about the possibility of having trouble with my battery going dead. I know it shouldn't be a problem, BUT, up here in Canada in the winter I'll be using accessories like the steering wheel and seat heaters a lot, never mind the rear window defogger (which also turns on the rearview mirror heaters) not to mention the heater fan - all these items are BIG users of electricity. If I combine these habits with relatively short trips could I get myself stranded with a car that wont start when it's -20?
Anyone with under drive pulley experience in such conditions??? I'd appreciate your words of wisdom.

Whow, NINE replies to my UDP thread, imagine my surprise at seeing that only 2 of them actually had anything constructive to say (thanks you two).
BTW, I did do a search prior to starting this thread and yet I fail to see why my question might be considered so dumb or repetative. Geez as a newbie I might be inclined to not start anymore threads since this one seemed to be somewhat annoying to the regulars.
I did some dyno testing last week on a 6spd. and am going back to do more tomorrow since I've made some modifications. Would anybody be interested in that kind of stuff or should I just keep it to myself and spend my time using the search function?

Post your results, I am sure we would all be interested.

I was planning on waiting to see what happened at tomorrow's test before posting anything.

I can best answer this, me and Nauman (UMD_MaxSE) installed my UDP on my car, and I have a 1000watt RMS amplifier running two MTX 8000s subs.
Now I still dont see any noticible difference in the lights dimming, looks the exact same amount as before the UDP and AFTER. So I dont think with me pushing this car's alternator to the limit has been afected by the UDP.
Get it, the best mod for the money behind the Ypipe.

reply to Paul....
Paul,
Welcome to the board and feel free to share any info or insight you may have about the Max. I don't think UMD_MaxSE meant anything bad by what he said about using the search feature. In fact you will find that UMD_MaxSE is one of the most helpful guys on this forum. Its just that a lot of the questions on the forums have been brought up a few times before and we normally just point people to the search feature since the people who scripted its funtionality intended for us to use it. I know we've all been guilty of asking the same questions more than once but that's how we learn. So welcome to the board and happy modding!

My 2 cents...I've had a UDP on my 97 for 4 months or so. No downsides at all. All the accessories work just fine. Car revs easier, which can make shifting and rev-matching a little more difficult, but you'd get use to it.
Seeing as there isn't a y-pipe for you to get (is there yet?) I'd go for it!

the UDP shouldn't have any detrimental effect on your electrical system becuase the alternator makes up for changes in RPM by keeping the voltage that it puts out relatively constant....if it didn't do this when you rev your car to high RPMs you would fry your electrical system. I actually think that the UDP will put LESS stress on the alternator than it has under normal "spirited" driving conditions becuase it makes 100% throttle more like 80%...
