Seized caliber?
Seized caliber?
I was changing my oil the other day and noticed one of my wheels does not spin freely like the other. The rear passenger wheel seems like it is jammed and doesn't want to rotate unless you force it. There is no "thumping" noise when I am braking or driving ... but I did have new rotors and brake pads put in that screeches when braking. Any comments?
No my dad's mechanic installed new rotors and brakes (cause I had original rotors that warped) when he brought my car in for inspection. I called the mechanic back and he said that the wheel hub didn't spin freely when he took the caliper and rotors out. He thinks its the boot?
Good mechanic seeing an issue and not doing anything.
Only way to tell is take the wheel off on that side and inspect. Without the wheel you should still be able to spin the rotor if car is out of gear of course...
It is either a siezed caliper or the rear guard behind the rotor is rubbing against the rotor.
When was the last time the brake fluid was flushed? It should be done every two years. Moisture can build up in the brake fluid which can cause seizing of the calipers.

The wheel was taken out along with the calipers and rotors. He visually checked to see if anything was rubbing but he claimed its the boot and it needs to be replaced. I asked my dad and he did tell him but he forgot to relay the message to me.
I have had the car for 2 years now but the brake fluids haven't been flushed. I'll look into that with the mechanic as well ...

Same thing happened to me when I had mine done. My passenger side rear caliber was sized and need to be replaced, luckily I was able to get one off of a junk yard car because new they are pretty expensive.
The boot for your CV joint is not related to the dragging of the wheel. Honestly, not doubting your mechanic, but pull the wheel and double-check it yourself. It wouldn't hurt and maybe you will see something the mechanic did not catch.

Needs to be in neutral. Make sure the parking brake (e-brake) is on when you jack up the front. If you are really worried about it, put blocks behind your rear wheels.
