Motegei Traklites, 14.3 #'s/wheel, coupled w/ your tires in 245-45-17 (your tires CMax03) = 38.5 #/corner.

How durable are these Traklites? That would help acceleration, turn-in, braking....etc.....But 245/40/17 is the proper plus 1 upgrade! I thought about possibly going to a 17 x 8-8.5 wheel and 245/40/17, but I like the way the 18" look and ride!

I've had these things forever, years, tens of thousands of miles w/o any problems.

I disagree on that tire size. Do the math again. I agree, 245-40 if it were an 18.

225-50-17 656.8mm (Stock)
240-45-17 627.8mm (Your plus +1)
245-45-17 652.3mm (My plus +1)

Difference from stock

Yours: -29mm (1.14" too small)
Mine: -4.5mm (.177 " small)

235/45/17 plus 1 " " " (overall dia.-25.4")
245/40/17 plus 2 " " " (overall dia.-24.6")
245/45/17 plus 2 " " " (overall dia.-25.7") yes it's closer NMex!..........

Oh yeah I meant 245-45, sorry about that, but my #'s still reflect 245-45 actually, it was a typeo when I typed it, not when I calculated it.

Yeah just f**king with you NMEX.....Our 3 " Cattman Catbacks now has some company.....BRM has their 3" with a puny 14" x 5" x 8" Magnaflow muffler and a 14" Magnaflow....That's gonna make for one loud beast....!!!!! It would be nice to take some pics side by side of just the exhaust systems themselves laid out!!!!!....Look's pretty nice but, no adjustabilty thru the Rear axle support matrix....So there will be some fitment issues....! I got a chance to drive my Max today, when a blinged out convertible 350Z pulls up next to me jumping on the throttle and wanted too challenge me but; My wife and baby girl were with me so, I had to tuck my nuts away for some other day when I run into the Heavy a$$ convertible with his BIG shiny 20" wheels (that's not a good combo)! I've eaten plenty of those for breakfast, lunch & dinner!!!!

Since I went with 235-50-17's is that like Plus .5 or something? The diameter measurement is closer to stock right?

It's not plus anything since it's still a 17" (unless you had a GXE w/ 16's stock). It's a good size and only 1cm larger.

The plus concept

My ex-wife used to gripe if I even hinted at racing anyone when I had my Z/28, then one day she comes home after driving my car to tell me how she blew the doors off a newer Z/28, said they were laughing at my car ('74 Z/28s only had fender and spoiler badges, no ducts, huge decals, etc) and she just had to show them.

If my son is in the car, I ignore challenges, plus since we got hit by that drunk, he's kind of skittish anyway.

The same with my wife but she comes always saying oh this little Honda thought he was tight or somebody tried to race her or its just normal the car accelerates pretty quick and always someone wants to keep up or go faster especially when they hear a exhaust....

I had a nasty rattle develop after about 3 weeks post install. That and a bang on bumps.

Well, I removed my rear heat shield (near 90 degree bend at fuel tank) and tightened all of my hangers except for the one on the left (if looking at the muffler ) of the muffler with hose clamps and it's totally awesome now, no rattles no bangs, FTMFW! Smooth and the PUR mounts make things great. Just need to install these effing SFCollars because this car is horridly clumsy vs. the Gen coupe.e

Dynomax makes some pretty good mufflers. I had Sonic Turbo mufflers on my Chevelle and Z/28, they sound absolutely amazing and were the best flowing turbo mufflers in the 80s. Both the Chevelle and Z/28 exhaust ended at the rear axle with turn-downs. If you have a V8, thats the ONLY way to go.

However, that isn't something that would work on our cars, twin 2.5" tips coming out of the cut-out is perfect.

Yeak Scott,
I ran Dynomax Super Turbo or Sonic turbo muffler for years on my 4 cyl Hardbody pickup and it did it job as far as sound quality was concerned, it just fell short with longevity in service.....They alway rusted from the inside out.....Years have gone by since, but when I rebuilt/modded my Hardbody with ported heads, performance Cam, headers, catback, hi flow cat, I switched to a Magnaflow 6" round x 14" long muffler and it was a little loud @ first til it got it's soot build-up and a resonated tip....It's a awesome sounding Hardbody with no drone just a really mellow tone.....That muffler (SS of Course) still looks brand new!!!!!

That JWT Popcharger really compliments that 3" Cattman catback....I tried my Hybrid SRI against the JWT/R2C filter and there's a crisper throttle response all the way thru the powerband.....I'm really surprised how much harder it pulled with this JWT/R2C synthetic filter combo!

Cattman Y Pipe Group Deal/Production Run-4th & 5th Gen

First off, Cattman makes the best (and always will) exhaust components for our cars!!
Sorry for being slightly off topic but I want to get the ball rolling on what could be the very last production of the Cattman Y pipe for 4th/5th Gen Maximas...Primary focus is getting a Y Pipe Group Deal/Production Run for the '95-'99.5,'00 & other FED Spec Maximas, but NOT necessarily excluding Cali spec or other year Maxima's (think we all know the 5.5s & non-FED spec's reach even further gains w/ the Cattman Headers/Y pipe combo)

I spoke with Brian a few days ago regarding making a Y Pipe production run and some highlights include:
Minumum of ~8 people need to place an order--no $ required when placing order (must call Brian directly to make order official)
Do NOT need all the $ until the Y pipe is ready to ship (~$100 deposit is charged only when the part actually begins production)
Once we get at least 8 orders Brian will start production and this is when he charges the deposit (~30%)
Also, I think Brian said he could do the Y pipe for $350 and once production begins, the part would be ready in about 4 weeks!
I will provide more info/details once I get back to work and look over my notes from my conversation with Brian. Lets make this happen guys!!

/\ That's great and everything but...Why post this info in this thread?

My advice is to start a new thread here in the 5gen forum, and the 4th gen forum if you must.

The price is pretty much always $350 (except when he has super sales). I wish Brian would just keep making batches of 8-10 at a time, so he always has stock.
Generating "interest" for a "group deal" is just a waste of time IMO, as they always sell eventually.

Yeah keep about 3-5 in stock and they will go like hotcakes & offering an option for a 2.5" Catback on the 4/5th gens still for those not interested in the 3"......

Sorry! No disrespect intended. That is why I prefaced being slightly off topic but I think anyone interested in the 3" would also benefit from a Cattman Y pipe as well and should know that he may never make them again if interest & subsequent production isn't expressed now.
BTW, I did post a new thread in the 4th and 5th Gen forums. The Y pipe GroupDeal/ Interest thread posted by another member that was referenced here was specifically for the '02/'03 5.5 Gen. I am posting on behalf of Brian and b/c I want him to produce a 'Y' for the FED spec and pre-Cali emissions Maximas which benefit more (& saves $ too) with just a Y pipe as opposed to the 5.5s & Cali spec that get even more gains w/ a Cattman Header/Y combo. Didn't mean to step on anyones toes here. I love my Cattman 3"!!

I would be interesting to see another Y-pipe for my Fed spec 2000 3.0... As far as I know only Warpspeed currently makes one. I'm still debating whether or not to buy the Warpspeed, cause my stock Y-pipe with almost 160,000 miles on it is just about done for.

I agree with others mentioning that Cattman should keep some sort of minimum inventory in stock. Working in the automotive industry over the last 16 years and dealing with alot of aftermarket and oem parts, one thing I've learned that holds true across the board is that advertising and marketing is critical for not only success, but just staying in business. Today it's all about internet sales. Sixteen years ago when I was fresh out of high school, all you did was walk into your local speed shop, tell them what you want, and they thumbed through paper catalogs. Those days are mostly over now. Almost every speed shop ranging from import to American muscle, have closed for good here where I live. Most people don't want to have to wait any longer than it takes to click their purchase and wait a few days for it to show up at their doorstep. The first question I get asked is how long will it take to get? If it's too long of a wait, they will look elsewhere or go with another brand/product. A good example is the Berk intake I ordered for my car which I purchased from Evasive Motorsports. It took hardly any time to order, and I had it at my house and installed on my car in just a few days after ordering. Now, if Berk only made intakes for Maxima's and their Infiniti counterparts, and only made them in batches to people who are members of a Maxima forum, their business would be no where near what they have now. So to wrap up my point... If Cattman sold their products online, diversified their products outside of just Maximas and made products for Altima and Sentra SE-R's, Titans, etc, at the click of a mouse through sites like Evasive or Password JDM, then it would open up his business to a whole new world of customers, not to mention Cattman's profits! Like I said before, advertising and marketing is critical.

Dropped 3" catback today to find out which emergency cable was sticking....It was the driver's side.....While doing that I fitted an Oem (SS) Cat Gasket to the only flange that was still using the Cattman supplied 3" gasket and replaced it with a reworked Oem (SS) Gasket that's now has a 3" bore as well, @ the last Bpipe flange.....

Never had a pair of Sonic turbo mufflers rust out on me and I had them on 3 different cars.

T behr904 you sound like a man with a plan........
Hopefully Cattman will take into consideration what I had so say and can make his business grow and keep it profitable. From what I've seen here on the Org, he makes great high quality products. It would be a shame to see it go under.
