Poll: What Type of Intake Are You Using?
What type of intake are you running?
If you are using a custom setup, please list the inside diameter of the piping and any special components that were used.
Also, please list if you are using the stock MAF or not, and if not, list the MAF (Housing) being used.
(I am using a custom short ram setup. Stock from the throttle body to the MAF housing. After the MAF housing is an Ebay MAF adapter, silicone coupler, Blox Velocity Stack, and an AEM 6x5 Dryflow filter)

I originally had an injen intake, and thought it was pretty good, loved the sound. But then I was given a berk intake and realized the injen really wasn't all it was cracked up to be. But the berk was for an 01, so I took some measurements and made one from a solid piece of 3-1/2" aluminum, with a 3.000" ID. Using an AEM dryflow filter.
After all the reading and research I have done on the org i have decided to go with this setup which some of you may have seen in other posts. It is a 17" long one piece BBMAF 80mm id, with 6' bell mouth velocity stack and AEM dryflow filter. I will be installing this in a few month then retuning with larger injectors.

Knight yyz, that is the most beautiful intake I have even seen.
That is the perfect setup if you ask me.
I wish I could run a BBMAF without too much PITA tuning, but sadly, I have a VAFC-II and only the SAFC allows for the 1 in 17 out setting, so I'd have to tune everything manually.
I wonder if the bigger injectors will offset the lean condition that an untuned BBMAF can cause?
Maybe I can get some 350z injectors or something and get a 77mm MAF?
Someone needs to make a 80mm Big Bore throttle body man.

And that's pretty much the exact same setup that I have. In fact, you inspired me to do it this way because I remember you saying that the resonator helps in the lower RPM range.
And is there a reason you got rid of the accordion tube and used a silicone coupler instead?

Thanks for the kind words. I'm pretty sure it is a one of a kind. I just wish I was better at polishing aluminum. I just don't have the patience for it.

That's good to hear! I wasn't looking forward to spending $300 on an intake. I thought the GAB was a little unsafe because the filter isn't sealed to the housing as tightly as the stock clamp-thing sealed it.

I've had both an Injen WAI and a custom SRI made from a straight 6"x3" pipe (Autozone ricer isle) and the Injen couplers, maf adapter and AEM filter. With the SRI I had to use a small filter (again ricer isle) for the crankcase breather as it had no inlet to hook up the breather line. Now for performance and you can flame away but I loved my Injen the low end power far surpassed that of the SRI and in the winter it's just amazing the power increse from the cold air it does get. Now the SRI is far superior at the track and on the highway. My thoughts on both are that if you're not racing or putting a lot of highway miles you may like to have the low end power the Injen provides and its eaisy enough to change if you do race. When I went to the track I would just pull the elbow off and attach the straight pipe maf and filter and just leave the long tube attached to the trans dipstick and put it back the next day. I also recently switched back to the OEM intake and after about a week with the ecu adjusting it feels more powerful than either the Injen or SRI fwiw.

I would contact them and ask directly, because maxima products don't seem obvious anymore.
The member who started this thread just bought one, right now. Ask him.
And last I remember, parts and filter was around $250. Apexi filter setups probably cost more.

I cut the 4-bolt mount end off of the MAF housing, made a custom cover out of black PVC, custom rubber gasket and drilled a hole to insert rubber grommet and tubing connector. Looks almost factory...
Sorry for poor picture quality. Lost my camera and used my Eris phone camera.
If you look at the engine bay picture, you can clearly see where the recirc hose is connected under the custom mid-pipe...
