Today i just had a viper 5901 alarm installed on my max and my girls
The install was successful but a few issues are occuring

1. After vehicle is turned off after being on remote start the lights will not turn themselves off. (in AUTO mode)

2. The Car will cut off if remote started with the lights in the off position and come back on numerous times (still under investigation)

3. NO ANTIGRIND?? When remote started if the key is turned to far the starter will try to crank the car. (I have a 95 max with the 791xv viper and never had this problem)

4. When remote started the fans on the climate control will not come on until the key is turned to the second position. ( the climate control will show the fan on and everthing like there functional but no fans until key is turned)

Has anyone had similar problems or any advice?? Im doing more trouble shooting myself tomorrow to narrow this down.

 

that is strange. i had remote start on my 96 probe and had none of these problems (this was 4-5 years ago)

I just installed a remote start w/alarm with no issues. It's hard to tell you what you did because the wiring methods are typically different for each model. Did you probe test each wire before connecting the corresponding remote wire?

 

A shop in Greensboro did it for me. Yeah I'm terribly disappointed with them and the out come. He said he tested each wire but that's hard to believe now we are BOTH having these issues.

 

Yeah, they don't know what they are doing then.

 

sounds to me like they got some wire mixed up and/or tapped wrong

it might be a door trigger issue. I remember years ago I did a Toyota and it had the same problem. It turned out the lights stayed on until the door was opened and closed when in auto lights.

Sounds like a bad install with all the other issues tho.

 

wow. Take it back to the shop you got it installed at and force them to fix it, thats unacceptable!

1. very well may just be a setting. do the parking lights light up when you lock/unlock? if so its probably a setting.
2. sounds like a setting issue as well - they should be using voltage tach, it works well...
3 + 4: the wiring must be wrong.. but if the RS works the starter relay has more than likely been wired correctly, may be a setting as well.. OR, Nissans have 2 starter wires. They might need to add a relay for both starters for starter grind to work properly (can't remember)

As for the heater only coming on with the key, they didnt wire up the proper accessory (or it came disconnected), or a fuse blew. probably the former

Do either of you have manuals? If so, are they forcing you to do the silly procedure? You don't need to be..
