eBay N1 cat-back installed. Question about bracket...

...One of the two (2) studs snapped off when I was removing the nuts from the bracket located "behind" the resonator.

Does that bracket add any structural integrity to the underbody, or is it just there in case exhaust breaks so it will not drop to the ground?

I am sure I can figure a way to get it back on, but if it's not needed, I was not going to worry about it.

Happend to mine too. I studied it closely and couldn't find an exact purpose for such a flimsy bracket. The other one in front that has the 4 bolts per side is another story. I am leaning towards your theory to be honest.

Pretty sure it's just there to keep the exhaust in check if it ever happens to come off its hangers. You don't have to put it back on. I did mine, though, just incase.

Dang dude, Northeastern winters?

My cat was pretty rusted, but a nice two-day soak in PB Blaster made everything better.

I don't understand why that flimsy bracket is there also, especially behind that monster one that's sitting right in-front of it..

Anyone else notice what the ground is for thats connected on the stock catback to the body? Well, the "monster" bracket with 4 bolts on each end? I never re-installed mine...

Sorry if this is a little OT, but how does your eBay exhaust sound? Do you have a link to it on eBay?

http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...k-exhaust.html Pics, sound clip and what I had to go through. Sounded really aggressive and deep with out the restrictor. I ended up cutting the tube out of the insert allowing me to get a happy medium sound.
