Exhaust is on!!!

Put my ebay exhaust on and what a PITA it was. Had to cut the bolts with a dremel then drill the studs out ughhhhh. All while doing it on the ground with a crappy 2.5 ton jack. Then after i got all of that done, i had trouble swingin the big azz flange thru the back above the axle. Had to get a big floor jack from an OG around the corner so i could jack the rear end up high enough to swing it thru...lol anyway car sounds decent fits pretty good and i must say i can really feel the power difference! I can only imagine how the 3 inchers run! (mine is 2.5) Just wanted to share with everyone!!!

what did you get? throw up some pics or a link. I remember when i got my muffler i had a hard time getting the new pipe over the axle too. I also remember having to use a sawzall to get the old bolts off they had rusted away and there wasn't anything to get a socket on

Awesome, but I hoped you used jackstands. If not, use them. They will save your life. Period.

Soundclips?

I don't see jack stands mentioned anywhere. That's a great recipe for disaster.

IMO the only way you're going to be able to feel power gains with a catback is if you already have headers... Maybe your butt dyno takes sound into account when calculating power, eh?

Otherwise, with no description of what catback it is or any pictures, this thread gets a from me.

did you loose any low & mid range tourqe when you installed your frankencar catback?? Because i was very lucky to find a frankencar catback exhaust, i didnt install yet but my main concern is i dont want to loose my low end tourqe.. also how do you like the exhaust noise wise? quiet? loud? drone? hows it sound inside the car? ( im a 6 speed aswell)

i just put my eBay exhaust on Thursday and am loving it. only cost me $130 plus 2 hangers at $4 each. i also had the same two problems with ground clearance with the muffler and had to drill out the bolts on the rear cat. I used ramps and the height was just right. drone around 25000 rpm but u can fix that by downshifting into overdrive.

here is a pic

Of course i used jack stands...seen a lot of people get hurt pretty bad when the dont use them. I actually keep the jack preloaded also just incase! As far as pics and soundclips..idk how to do soundclips and the pics look just like incubusjohnny. I do agree i dont like the fart can on the back but ill change that eventually. Now as far as power goes...idk if my factory exhaust had something wrong with it or not but b4 i could stuff it in 1st and the car would just hold traction and go, but now if i mash it it breaks traction all day. And when i shift into second it burns tire...idk but i love it

I went with the ILOVETACOTACO $129.99 shipped eBay exhaust (4.5" tip) and have no fitment issues, no clanking or clunking. I also bought a 4.5" $9.99 silencer from eBay and it definately helps with the 2500 RPM drone...

yeah unfortunatly mine is the 4 inch tip, good side is it came with the silencer, the olny issue i have is that one of the flanges is touching the sheild underneath, i was goinf to cut away at the shield with tin snips but its not maikng any noise so i might just leave it.....Nismopc i remember seeing you post that somewhere and thought it so sooooo funny ..the sellers name hahahaha

BTW i used Cobalt drill bits and it drilled thru the old studs really well...just a little heads up to anyone doing this on their own!

Yeah your butt dyno is working pretty good then cause Frankencar catbacks were very restrictive and lost power!

TACO!!! TACO!!!

I bought a cobalt tip AFTER I installed the exhaust. I still need to redrill the holes bigger. I was so frustrated that by the time the drill made the holes with smaller bit, I just went with the size hole it made and found some small nut/bolt combo in my parts bin.

I want to install same size as OEM studs as soon as possible to prevent slippage and/or leaking.
