experience of a lifetime

boy do i hate people who have things fall out the back of their vehicles.
well about 2hrs ago i faced one of these objects. was driving on the highway(speed limit of course) and all of a sudden the car infront of me swerves to the right and i see a chari in the middle of the highway just sitting there, i proceed to swerve out the way and doing so the max looses control but i manage to bring the max to the grassy are between the highway and the offramp. could have been alot worse, about 2 feet from where the car went sliding into the grass theres a huge ditch inwhich i would have gone for a real roller coaster ride. only damage is from those metal reflectors on the side of the highway which i hit slidding. the damage was to the rear driver side door and rocker panel

this makes me wish i had my income tax money now cause i was planning on doing suspension mods and brakes mods(coilovers, swaybars, subframe collars, wheels and tires, and the 5.5gen brake upgrade)

Wow, glad you are ok. I am not sure if you are claim through insurance or not... doesn't hurt to try.

In for pictures though.

Moral of the story: Push the pedal down and slam that ***** head on! :P

Pic of type of chair?

Driver(s) in front of you are ********. They need their asses beat. Waiting till the last sec to swerve is a douche move.

+1 - they saw that chair, and choose to wait to move...

I've had this happen with a pickup - they suddenly lurched into the left turn lane - giving me 200 to 250 feet before a stopped car (flashers on cause it was broke down) - I went sideways in the grass to miss the car and the stupid truck that slammed on brakes after hitting the turn lane.... I've had some defensive driving courses (and used to drift a 2+2 280ZX) - so sideways wasn't a bad thing for me.

You could submit for insurance if you have full coverage - if not - then wait for the tax check

Glad you're ok. I noticed that you're in Georgia too. What highway did this happen on?

something similar happend to me last year. Instead of a chair it was someones spare tire. It must have fallen off from not being mounted on right. Well it was rolling in the 2nd lane of the freeway. I was in the 3rd and a ford f-150 swerved into my lane trying to avoid the tire. well he avoided the tire alright but he was carying scrap metal in his cargo bed and a good piece of alluminum pipe flew out and landed on the hood of my car leaving a huge dent. The guy didnt even noticed what happend so i had to pull next to him to signal him 2 pull over.

I remember a long time ago...I was driving behind this van that had plywood tied to the outside roof of the car. I remember thinking that the plywood was looking a little too wobbly in the wind and before I could switch lanes to pass the biotch... the plywood came loose and slammed right into the roof of the car shattering the windshield and putting a bis **** dent in my roof....guy tried to deny that it was his plywood......anyway....glad you are okay.

Look on the bright side-this is the aftermath of a woman who swerved to avoid a wheelbarrow laying in the middle of a freeway on-ramp. She spun when she swerved and got t-boned by a Crown Vic at freeway speeds. Her son was in the front passenger seat and when I got to the car, he was pinned between the door and shifter. How he managed to avoid injury is beyond me.

These examples are why it's usually better to just hit whatever it is that's in front of you instead. Of course saying that and actually doing that when you've got less than a second to make a decision and your brain is screaming at you to swerve are two different things. Glad to hear you made it out relatively unscathed dwade.

Gotta say, for getting hit in the weakest spot possible by a high velocity car, that kia did decent. I think it could've been a lot worse.

the question is would hitting these objects dead on possibly cause you to loose control anyway?

Not usually, though the amount of damage can total a car typically...

A chair... depending on the type and what it's built from could potentially take out your whole front end or just break apart...

OP what kind of chair was it?
