Just Got a 5th Gen

Just Got a 2003 Maxima with 79000 miles for 6350 dollars. thats the good news, the bad news is it failed the e-check and i got this code from the e check place P1456 Evap emisson control system (very small leak). Is this a big fix and did this happen to anyone else before? And if u know how to fix it how much do u think the fix will run at mechanic shops or dealerships?? HELP !! thanks.

I dont know how to post pics

Not sure of the exact codes for stuff like that, but could be something as simple as the gas cap... I had that problem on my Altima. Cleaned the filler neck and got a new cap.. My code was gone. Not sure if that was the same code though, but just a thought. It's fairly common.

i bought a 2003 maxima with 29 thousand miles about 5 months ago and driving it from boston my check engine came on with exact same code. It is the evap system and the best thing to do is change everything, i bet its all rusty .It is under the drivers rear wheel. You will see the cannister sensors and hoses , inspect hoses and change everything else good luck.

Hoses should be flexible, not hard or stiff. Where it connects to something and it does not use a clamp (usually small hoses), you should not be able to pull it off easily, it should require effort. Lastly, look at it carefully. The surface of the hose should be smooth, no cracks or things that look like lines.
