Retractable winshield sunshade
Retractable winshield sunshade
Do those spring loaded retractable winshdield sun shades that attach to the A pillars and latch together, block visablity(when retracted of course)? How much would i lose? Is it possible to mount those in the middle of the A pillar instead of on the glass side of it?
no im talking about an aftermarket thing. I belive a few companys make them. heres one http://www.shadetreeonline.com/theshade/theshade.htm
One of the things i like about the 5 gen maxima is good visibility.

Intersting that kind has one piece that goes across the window and other have 2 pieces that meet in the middle. http://www.amazon.com/Sierra-Tools-R.../dp/B000HEGOE0
The one I had in my (briefly owned) I30 allowed visability....but it was naturally limited. You could see a vehicle behind you, IIRC but I don't recall being able to tell what kind of car it was; just the shape. The shades are translucent, not solid.
I think were talking about 2 different things. Im talking about something that goes in the windshield. The only way it would stop me from seing cars behind is if it blocker the rear view mirror. lol.
I was worried about it making my A pillar much wider but it doesnt look like it does that.

That kind doesnt look bad.
I dislike things that block visillilty, especially in front. My registration sticker is as at the very bottom corner of the window leaving only 3/4 of the sticker visible from the outside, just enough to make out the number. Most people have theirs more visible and more in the way. Do all state require sticker in the passenger side of the winshield now? I seriously dislike the trend towards new cars having bad visibilty. higher belt lines, lower roof lines thick pillars. Sheetmetal is lighter and cheaper than glass. Smaller windows and thicker pillars makes it easier to get good crash test resutls but i think its backwards and less safe because regadless of the crash tests having good visiblity helps to avoid accidents in the first place. I think more glass is more pleasant to look out of too.
Thinking about it I suppose the trend towards smaller windows mean less sunlight and heat and less need of a sunshade lol. Mabye that infrared blocking tint will become cheaper and come stock in the future that would help too.
