Installed my Transmission mount yesterday. Easy job, just took an hour. The ebay mount fits perfectly on my 03 Auto. Old mount did not look bad but the change made significant difference in handling. The bump steer i have been experiencing is almost gone, and the car holds firm going through potholes and rough roads. Should have done this long time back. I'll post pics of the old mount tomorrow.

Front and Rear mounts remaining. Job for the next weekend.

Since you have already done the other 3 Mandyfig.... heres my suggestion... go for it

The trans mount is the easiest of the 4 and once you undo the air filter box etc... you will see how easy it is to get to it.

The only trick is while taking it out i.e. you have to push it about a 1/4 inch down and then it comes out. You will see the notch once the mount is visible to you.

Sorry, i did not take pics during the install. Like kukx30de said, it is pretty straightforward.

Here are the pics of the old mount. It does not look bad at all, but the change helped a lot in terms of handling.

Hoping the front and rear mounts along with sub frame bushings will fix the remaining minor vibration issues. I will try and finish them of this weekend.

Can these be looked at, or inspected to see if they need to be replaced before actually taking them off the car? Sorry, I know, I am a Noob..LOL...

You can have someone rev the car while looking at the engine to see how much it moves, also have them switch from park to see how far it moves. If it moves a lot then there you go time to replace.

After doing the check above, go underneath and check the front and rear mounts, take a peak, see cracks, time to do it.

The Tranny side would be a challenge, the location sucks.

Have you done the trans mount?

It is the easiest of the 4 man! It was the only mount you dont have to get under the car for.

URGENT!

Can somebody please give me a summary of what you bought online for this project? I have read these posts over and over again. From what I understand, you need to purchase the 4 Motor Mounts off Ebay. Also, you need to purchase the ES Subframe Bushings Motor Mount 7.1116 from Ebay as well. Then, you can go ahead with the install and remove the busted motor mounts. My car is a 2001 Maxima SE Automatic btw. Also, I would like to know if the Ebay Motor Mounts will work for the mount that is located near the transmission for my 2001 Automatic. Thank you so much.

All you need is the set of 4 mounts.

The ES insert is optional. Folks put them in if they want to further stiffen the engine mounts.

I have an 01 GLE auto and they worked just fine.

You should have no issues with these.

The engine mount near the transmission will fit using the ebay mount right? Because I heard it did not work for the manual transmissions but I have an automatic and my car is an 01.

the ebay mounts are for auto cars.

Folks have issues because this is an auto trans mount and they have manual causing a mismatch.

I was going to do the ES inserts but got tired of trying to find a manual trans mount for the project...

So are these the mounts everyone is getting for 2000-2003 automatic maxima?

The way I see if if the fit and finish is identical just get them. If they go bad sooner than later install the ES inserts.

Hopefully everything will "fit like a glove" and the max will run smooth again...

kvk2003max confirmed in thread #163 for the transmission mount. These auto mounts "Fit all 1995-2001 NISSAN MAXIMA 3.0L ENGINES WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION " but seem to fit 02-03 too....These replacement mounts are non electric so you will need to cable tie your electric mount plugs on your auto. I am having mine done today or tomorrow "wooohoo"

Correct. I have a 03 Auto, and all 4 mounts fit just fine. Have been running on them for over a month now, very satisfied.

My mechanic installed the front and rear mounts along with the transmission mount....The mount by the right tire had been replaced by previous owner.

The difference is extreme...Car runs great, feels solid and shifts smooth. No more cracklings going on...

Remember I did order the auto trans mounts from ebay.... Parts & labor $200.00...well worth it...

Unfortunately, on my way to the mechanics, the max threw out codes
P0720 & P1574
The new journey begins...Now to determine which part is really bad.

I installed the engine mounts, and now I have significant vibration and a hum at idle. Did anyone else experience this? It seems kind of excessive, and i am thinking of going back to liquid-filled mounts(or, mount)

Yes on an auto the mounts become soft or hard as per signals from ecu. That's why u don't feel any vibrations. With the eBay mounts it's basically just a rubber mount. My maxima auto idles like a 4 cyl accord.
The vibration does not bother me at all.
If u hv the cash, sure spend the $200 each on the front rear mounts.
My car is worth about 3k, no way I'm spending 400 up on mounts

I just replaced my front passenger side mount with an ebay mount, and it turned out to be much more difficult than necessary, due to the fact that I ended up rounding off the nut for the awkward to reach nut that has to be accessed from underneath. I tried using a bolt out, but it was just gouging the nut worse, so I shied away from using it further.

I ended up dremelling and drilling the bolt out, although when I drilled I was off center enough that I had to dremel a lot of the actual mount to get the old mount out. Once I was ready to install I had another unpleasant surprise, as a few of the mounting holes on the top of the ebay mount were slightly out of place. I had to hit those with a die grinder to open them up further so I could use the mount. As my old mount was thoroughly nuked by me when trying to remove it, reusing the old mount was not an option.

The new mount definitely helped greatly. I had a NWP torque brace that I had to recently retighten down in order to reduce engine movement, the old mount was so bad that I had to almost fully tighten the brace. Now I am once again able to simply tighten the brace down several turns to brace the engine.

Good info in this thread.

I have a dumb question. What do the electric mounts actually do?
Or is it basically like a worn brake pad sensor where it just tells you it needs changing?

Saw this old thread being bumped. If you check the member rides section I ordered eBay motor mount 4 piece set for $95 shipped for my 4th gen which was sorely in need of new mounts.

They seemed pretty decent for the price and after reading some of the reviews on this thread I had no problem purchasing them. When I received them the product didn't look that bad at all. Quality of rubber is the issue but I'm not complaint for $95

Got through installing these tonight , and boy this job would have SUCKED without air tools and a lift. It's not complicated just time consuming.

Before - everytime I would engage the clutch the motor would jump like 5 feet all around the bay. People's neck would snap while starting in first. Also driving around in first was very jerky at low speeds. Also everytime I would shift gears you could hear a clunk from the bay

After- everything is 100% better now. No more thumps, neck snapping, jerking, you name it. Car feels nice and tight.

Only thing I'm curious about is how long these mounts will last before they're all torn up like my oem ones. My oem mounts have never been changed and my car had 294k on it.

Thanks for the review.
I just ordered a set for my 2000.
turned out $107 because CA sales take and free shipping.

So the wiring going to the front mount I just ziptie that somewhere and it won't
throw any check engine codes or anything?

Also, where do you guys get those little 4 subframe bushings?
Are those usually toast too?

I don't want to get the hard poly ones from energy.
I'm 30 years old and enjoy driving my maxima.
