Ebay motor mount opinions
The reason is that I screwed my MAF connector the last timew I cleaned it. The connector is tie wrapped in. I do not want to fool around with my MAF. Also the rubber sleeve that holds the MAF to the intake is in pieces (really should replace it) and I am afraid to screw it up some more.
But I have to do what I have to do. I need to shop around for that rubber. I will take a pic when I get home.
Thanks.

Isn't the airbox connected to the MAF assy? Did you have to remove the 4 bolts that holds the MAF assy to the airbox?
The Courtesy Nissan parts catalog shows this very well. I really appreciate their parts blow up list, gives you an idea of all the bolts you need to address.

I saw that pic. I didnt really touch the MAF, but loosened the metal ring that goes on the rubber on the stock resonator side. I left the rubber connected to the throttle body.
So, yes I did remove the MAF

So i ordered a set from amazon.com for a manual transmission. From the previous posts in this thread, i saw that the manual mounts would fit in a automatic, which is what i have. I got the front and rear mounts off, but the two new ones do not fit. I worked at it for nearly an hour, making sure i didnt have the motor jacked up to high and manipulating it every way i could. Still no fit. Am i doing something wrong or was i sent the wrong mounts. The ones that i ordered say they will fit a 95-01 maxima and they came as a set for $115. i have a 2000 maxima
I also noticed that the actual mounts that i bought, compared to the mounts i had on, were slightly smaller. I am going from automatic to manual mounts, but ive read through this entire thread and nobody has had this problem yet. Perhaps im installing them wrong.
The mounts I bought too are slightly smaller than the auto mounts already on the car.
You should make sure you have the right mount on the right side. There is an arrow on the mount that should be facing towards the front of the car.
To get the mounts to line up you have to manipulate the engine height. Since the cross bar with the front and rear mounts is out the engine would have come down a few inches.
Get your jack under the oil pan using a wooden block or jack up at the joint of the motor and trans. Slowly have someone jackup the engine like a few mm's at a time and feel for the long bolt to go through the engine hole and the motor mount hole.
My front mount was easy, the rear one was a pain since you do it all by feel.

The ebay ones are almost identical.
The new ones are slightly smaller in diamater. The only two i have managed to take off and attempt to put back on are the front and rear mounts that are bolted on to the cross member bar or whatever it is called. I'll post pics if i can. Going to give it another go today and see if i can squeeze them on there.
Not sure if i posted these pictures correctly, but i cant seem to view them from my computer. Regardless, the new mounts from amazon.com are slightly smaller than the original ones. Going to play around with it again today to see if i can get them to fit.
(I couldn't see your pictures on this thread; I had to go to the direct photobucket link provided in my email notification)
From what I see on those pictures, it looks like the centerline of the new mount sits slightly higher than the old one, so you are going to have to raise the engine a little bit more to get them to line up.

The photos could be misleading. He needs to measure centerline to bolt location.
The diameter seems smaller then again all that matters is the distance of the through hole to the mounting bolts. There is allowable play anyway.

Those are the correct mounts. The non-electric mounts are smaller in diameter than the electric. He's just having difficult time lining everything up.
joemax2000 - you'd benefit if you could have someone assist you with raising and lowering engine while you maneuvre crossmember back in place. Attach engine mounts to engine first, then attempt to adjust the crossmember (and 4 bolts) into place.
It can get tedious especially if your other two mounts are bad (tranny/passenger) and sagging causing misalignment issues.

Well i managed to get both the front and rear mount on. Took quite a while to get it all lined up though. Moving on to the tranny mount....I've got all of the bolts out but im having a rather hard time actually removing the mount. Anyone have any tricks to get this one out?
Tips from earlier post...
1. Remove stock airbox and air filter holder to get space.
2. for safety disconnect battery.
3. u should now be able to see the mount.
4. the 4 main bolts are super easy.
5. to get the middle bolt you have to raise lower the trans to slide it out.
6. the pain is the side bolt that holds a bracket. This bracket has the cable that goes to the starter and some others.
7. The best way i found was to disconnect the big wire that goes to the starter and then slowly undo the bolt using a regular wrench. I couldnt get a socket in there.
8. Once out... its super easy to get it all back in.
Take pics if you can so we can post and help others.
Good luck

You got that right Mandyfig.
The trans mount has to almost be slightly pressed down towards the engine and then it comes out of the notch that it sits in. It does not slide straight up.
Once you have the bolts off lower the trans a little to get it freed up. You can then see the notches on the side and figure out how to get the mount out.
Good Luck.

We installed the front, rear, and passenger mounts in my 2002 Maxima 6MT today. As stated in an early post, these ebay mounts work perfectly in the 02 6MT.
The transmission mount doesn't fit but it was still much cheaper to buy this set of 4 and not use the transmission mount. I plan to tackle the transmission mount next weekend. I still have some vibration when starting in first so I'm hoping that is the cause.
Installation was pretty simple. We did not have to remove the pulley or cut the one bolt on the passenger side. It is a southern car so I didn't have any rust to worry about to that probably helped a lot. The hardest part was just getting holes lined back up but that wasn't that bad.
FYI My 02 has 135k miles on it. Front and rear mounts were in pretty good shape. Passenger mount was beginning to fail. Nothing like some of the pictures here but there were some sizable cracks in it. I was actually disappointing since I was hoping they would be trashed which would have been the cause of my vibration problem.
If anyone needs the transmission mount I'll be putting it in the classifieds.

Mandyfig, we might need your input if you completed your weekend task with the tranny mount.
Found it:

I checked the listing, it is the same set I purchased. Should fit Auto trans 00 and 01 according to previous posts here but I have not actually done it myself. But kukx30de did it already. So I say it should be good to go.
Are you saying you weren't able do to the trans mount because it didn't fit? Or did you just not get to it?
I've got that same trans mount from the ebay kit that I was just going to sell but I would hate for someone to buy it and it not fit.
Thank you, mandyfig. I saw his classified and I think it is a pretty fair offer. The passenger mount I replaced was a used one, from a 4th gen at a junkyard, and I'm starting to hear some noises similar to the ones I used to hear before I replaced it, so I may end up buying a complete set instead.
