I'm heading to Canada this weekend for a small meet-up. 2003 SE's only. Very exclusive.
Headed to NYC my self. Am I too late for maxus?

Guys,
lately I have been considering an 02-03 6 speed and selling my '01 AE. The car is great, however underbody rust and lack of power bother me. I miss the punch of the VQ35 from my G35c.

How common is the tranny grinding issue with the 6 speed units (in '02 models especially), and were '02's more or less the same as the '03 with respect to reliability (i.e. tranny grinding and oil burning engines)? Is the oil burning motor a common problem? My VQ35 in the G didn't burn a drop of oil.

Ideally I would like HLSD, however the car I am looking at is an '02 without it - there seems to be debate here with respect to it having little to no difference with good tires / suspension / throttle control.

IMO, take it as you may, LSD of any sort doesn't really help in a straight line, only if you're a snow monkey or you autox a lot. That reason being, when exiting a turn, you don't annihilate your inner tire.

Wow I can't believe I read through all that! very entertaining. I don't know alot about cars I'll admit but when I was in the market for a Maxima I didn't even consider the 2k 2k1 they look pretty dull to me (mostly the front) and the oil burning issue with the 5.5 gen was not a big deal to me I mean how hard is it to check your oil and add a little here and there. Other than that the 5.5 gen has more power with similar mileage, 6spd tranny and xenon headlights that's more than enough to outweigh the oil burning issue IMO
