I dont really care for the image of the engine. I only care for the performance of the engine.

erty67, I'm going to reach out to you again for a smaller version that I can apply to the center of my JDM oil-cap, so that the two match. It's going to look really nice. Thank you, Ed. You've been great.
vinyl does settle, kind of like tint. They always say give any bubbles a week or so to go away...same theory.

You know what else? If you look at the decal at an angle, you can actually see the imprint of the lettering underneath. It's no big deal, and barely perceptible.

The reality is that this cap-cover looks 100% better IMO with the solid color, dark-gray decal than without it. Whomever suggested I ask erty67 for this... good call.

I'm so so about it. They look decent. I really wish the red wasn't so bright but they're brand new. Maybe after they get a little dirty they'll look better.

It's a 3rd party seller, can't do it.

And Can't get it directly from VMS, it's actually not even listed on their site.

Also, I can't get one period, because I'm in canada, and they want $32 for one. Feel like ordering one for me and brining it up with you Rochester? PM me, I need a decal too if this works.

Just remind me to order it well ahead of whenever we come up.

On that note, how are you getting the CO's to merovi?

Wires everywhere, tin foil around the pop-charger, some kind of gold Lamé on the UIM, and now fuzzy red wrist bands on your fluid reservoirs. Particularly now that you each are using sweatbands do doll-up your engine bay.

And here you were giving ShocknAwe grief for his stickers. Something tells me you guys are more simpatico than the flame wars would have us believe.

Forums are for opinions and thats all well and good but surely everyone can realize everybody has different tastes. The very point of modding your car is to get it how YOU like it. Do a google search for reservoir covers, its a very popular thing and theres thousands of ways to do it. Black being my choice.

Like I said, it's been neglected. I've got a plan that'll clean everything up. Time will only tell whether the sweatbands will stay or not.

The gold stuff is DEI reflect-a-gold tape. It's staying.

I don't deny the logic, Shocker. There's a lot of truth in what you just said. However, stroll on over to Tuner's "ricer" thread and take a look at some things equally popular.

Popularity is not necessarily a measure of good taste. Just like Conventional Wisdom has nothing to do with being smart.

Exactly right thats why modding your car the popular way or to where other people would approve is pointless. I meant that covering crappy reservoirs is a popular thing in older engines. They look hideous and covering them is just an easy option

To address both of these quotes, paint your bloody reservoirs if you're against their replacement.

If it's a reservoir that is of any importance for monitoring (coolant comes to mind), then you can mark MIN/MAX, and tape of an inconspicuous strip before painting, this will retain your level measurement/gauge, and still fix your reservoirs.

Also, removing them and soaking them/scrubbing them outside and inside will clean them up way more than you guys think. use a little mauratic (sp?) acid if they're really tough inside.

And Chris, I think it's the gold IM and Midpipe that are the biggest part of the SMH, so to hear you say that is disappointing, but to each their own!

Cool thanks dude. Merovi is actually coming up with his lil senorita This coming Saturday morning ot pick them up. It'll be a rush change of hands, as I've got my son's best friends b-day party to attend, but I'm hoping we will have a little time to chat pre-lim to his install and our meet.

Different strokes for different folks. Your opinions (Rochester's as well) are respected but at the end of the day, they're just opinions.

Do you have the NWP spacers as well? Im wondering if you noticed a difference in temperature when you painted the UIM. Im thinking of using the engine enamel clear coat, the ceramic dupli-color stuff, to paint mine. I don't want to change the color of it and im wondering if its worth it at all. The ceramic stuff always seems to flake...

I used to on my old 4th gen but not this one.

Painting it will only look better. I don't think you'll see cooler intake temps from it.

The DEI stuff is for blocking heat and can be used anywhere. I'm thinking about throwing it under my entire hood since I don't have the insulation to block heat. Not sure yet.

Its kind of like a lot of other mods. The gains aren't noticeable but when you do 4 or 5 mods it adds up. When you wrap exhaust manifolds, paint the intake manifolds with ceramic and box off your intake filter and put reflective tape on the outside of the box. I think you should notice a few hp at least. Theres no way it CANT lower under hood temps

I just feel the car is less sluggish around town. That's about it.

Speaking of heat shields, that has to be redone in some sort of plastic and I'll probably wrap it in the gold stuff. Not sure when though.

THIS ^

Here is my engine bay curretly.....still not finished. The engine cover is not on either.

Im not too fond of the Reservoirs either ONLY because if you cover them you wont be able to see the fluid levels if it gets low. they look nice, but I think I'll leave them as is in my car.
