Help Identifying Break Component

Hi guys,

Recently I was hearing a metal-to-metal decently loud noise when turning the wheels to the right (it does not happen to the left) and I lifted the car yesterday I found what it seems to be the culprit:

I maybe should've highlighted or drawn on the photos above to help identify what I am talking about. But the piece I am talking about is the shaped sheet metal around the disk brake. In one of the pictures it is WAY too close to the disk, so when I turn the wheels, it hits is and makes some noise.

Does anyone knows what the piece is called, how did it move there and how to fix / replace it? It does not seem bent, it seems like it somehow shifted towards the disk... not sure whats going on here...

TIA

Looks like the dust shield. Just rip it off (tear or cut out the metal) so it does not make contact with the rotor. You dont need it that much.

I know the end of the control arm sits close to the rotor, but is it supposed to be that close?

Have you done any brake or suspension work lately? If so, then I'd say you just pushed the dust shield against the rotor while you were working. It's just sheet metal and you can bend it back out of the way..

If you haven't done any work on the car recently, then you have something else moving. I'd check the front wheel bearings for play.
