What the heck is "sticky trim"? Is that a 5.0 gen thing?

Unfortunately, yes it is. Over time, the trim on the doors, center console from the radio down to the shifter gets soft and sticky feeling, and can be easily scraped with your nail or other object. The only way to fix it is to remove the trim piece and strip it off down to the hard plastic underneath.

I believe so John, I've heard a lot of people mention it, but never really saw it in a 5.5 :/ maybe that's the reason why they all swap for the 5.5 trim?

Wow that sucks. My Logitech Mouse is starting to do that. But that's a computer mouse, not a car.

Bummer for you guys.

What to hate...

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not a big fan of the constant failure rate of some of the parts on our cars. The MAF, power steering hoses, ECU getting fried because of engine mounts and IACVs, oh the list goes on and on.

Yes, there are the regular things like the soft suspension and brakes, the four-point-turn-around-required turning radius, the somewhat cheesy tail lights on the 5.5, and so on, but most of those can be dealt with by getting better aftermarket parts/mods.

Having a 4th gen and now two 5.5 gens, makes me think of what I really like about the car versus the complaints I've had about it. So bitter sweet.

OK, yeah, I got it.

But I still have two 4th gen Maxima's, and don't really have any complaints about them except both had to have the alternator and the radiator replaced, as well as both Knock Sensors. But that was all....

The 4th and 5th gens are bad for this. Mine is starting to get some spots of rust rot. I'm not looking forward to having that fixed.

Am I the only one who hates that fancy Electronic Throttle Control??? It's driving me nuts, I'm wondering if Sprint Booster actually works, as I am ready to throw out $300 to make it even a little better

So:
1. Electronic Throttle Control
2. Oil consumption (yet to replace the valve covers to 2004 ones)
3. Turning radius
4. Sooooooft suspension (fixed with coilovers)
5. BOSE radio (fixed with Kenwood)

The Sprint Booster will make it feel like your throttle is more responsive. It won't actually be so, but it will feel that way... and really, that's all that matters.

Not worth $300, IMO. But if you have it to throw around on fun mind-games, then by all means. I had one (at half price) for a while, and I loved it.

Ah, yes, the infamous lower tie bar, i.e. radiator support, rusting out. Thankfully, my 03 hasn't started getting bad, but my 02 is getting there faster than I'd like. I'm considering putting something like POR15 to subside the possible damage. So long as I avoid plugging any factory made holes, it should be preventative maintenance.

Someone else reminded me of the pock-marked hood and front bumper. Oh, the travesty of it all. Why again did we buy these cars? Oh, yeah, I remember now.
