Snag in suspension install

Hey guys,

I searched for quite some time and couldn't find the resolution to my problem. I live in Detroit, and due to that, many parts on the vehicles are rusted. That being said. I did the front suspension, nothing too complicated. Then I got to the rears and I can't get the botttom strut bolt out. The "stationary nut" on the other side is spinning and I don't know if I should cut it off or what. If you guys can help me with this issue, that'd be much appreciated. And I'll post pictures as soon as I can find a resolution to my problem.

Right now I'm trying to avoid cutting it. But if I have to bite that bullet, that's fine. I'm gonna work on this later on and give you guys an update then.

is the nut stripped? If so, youre obviously gonna need a new bolt/nut. Just cut it off already.

Is the stationary nut still in it's cage? If not, maybe try holding the nut still while you turn the bolt. I also ran into problems with that bolt when I did my rear springs.

I just had the same problem on my '02

I ended up cutting the bolt with a hacksaw. If you have access to air tools you might get it to break free with an impact wrench. The problem is that once the nut starts to turn the sides get rounded off and the cage that it sits in no longer grips it to prevent spinning.
