I bought the Gunk version, seems to have significantly slowed, but not stopped the leak.

Sounds like you have the common high pressure PS hose leak. The maxima uses ATF as PS fluid, so I wouldn't recommend using an off-the-shelf stop leak product that isn't meant to mix with ATF.

Leaking power steering hoses at the crimp are a somewhat common problem for Nissan. If you happen to get the leak to stop by using an additive, it won't last. Bite the bullet and replace the hose.

Basically if the leak is coming from the high pressure line, it wont work. Most of these stop leak formulas are designed to swell up any gaskets or O-rings that might be old, deteriorated, hardened, or cracked. Which doesnt work in most cases.

I was poking around under my driver's side wheel-well the other day, and noticed that power-steering "junction" just above the rack is leaking -- or at LEAST covered in a greasy fluid.
Didn't LOOK like PS Fluid (i'm using Amosil Synthetic) but it was covering the surrounding areas, to be sure.

I haven't noticed any appreciable loss of FLuid in the Reservoir, which leads to me to think it could be something else....but what?!

It seemed more like gear lube than PSFluid.

Weird.

I used Prestone and the slow leaks on the hose crimps stopped. No more oily damp hoses, knock on wood.

Instead of getting a used one from the junkyard for $40, get a new one for $80.17 shipped.

You shoulda went new on that hose as you never know about the one off of that I30, it may be ready to leak as well...... New one you will have a warranty at least and that part is not a fun part to change!

I had that problem on my old ride that is RIPieces.. what has happened when I added stop leak, in really cold winter day I started the car up and i heard a BOOM!! under my hood so I look under to see my power steering pump blown out and Lucas all over my hood/engine. I was pissed. Never using that stuff again, but I'm almost certain that it was due to the very cold weather temps.

I got a slow leak as well and was wondering about using a stop leak product. Think i'm just going to replace the line because sooner or later it will need to be done.

look at the thread dedicated to it. From what i remember, anything other than OEM makes the power steering pump whine.

Used on my 05 and it stop the leak. i used 2 bottles and took like a month to stop it. For gaskets and o-rings. The leak was from the drivers boot.
