6th Gen BBK: Will my stock 17s fit?
Curious about this upgrade so I started doing some research. From what I understand so far, my stock (i30t) 17inch rims wont fit over the BBK, but the i35 rims will. My rims are 17.0 in. x 7.0 in, with what I believe is a +45 offset (http://forums.nicoclub.com/stock-nis...rt-t69378.html).
So what can I do to get my rims to fit over? Will a spacer solve my problem?
**New rims are NOT an option currently.
thanks for the input

I was worried about this on my 2001 I30 with 16s as well (like you I didn't want to upgrade tires/rims), so I went the 5.5 gen upgrade route, which is larger than 5 gen, but smaller than 6 gen.
Some of the smarter members of the .org probably know the answer to your question better than me... sorry.

Tombinator - that's a good idea, but the 5.5 gen is only 11.65" disc. It just doesn't seem worth the trouble.
From my research it seems that the 02-03 wheel has a +40 offset so using common sense a 5mm spacer should do the trick. I still want some assurance before I decide to spend the money. Some one out there ??

The 5.5 SE wheels fit the 6th gen brakes without any spacers.

I believe the 5.5 wheel is a +40 offset? according to this: http://forums.nicoclub.com/stock-nis...rt-t69378.html
and i have 5.0 wheels (I30) that are +45 offset and people say that it wont fit under these. So im thinking a 5mm spacer would solve my problem????

Yes they will fit, I ran mine like that now and then especially if I'm going to New Orleans and the roads over there suck...and the Oem 17" are tough as nails. They're close but clear...I think it's about .040"

for researchers wondering if the 5th gen wheels will fit behind the 6th gen bbk...yes they will, im speaking as i'm riding w/o a spacer, strictly 5th gen 17" wheels...whoever said it wont fit....was wrong. because its working

I told someone that the 5th and 5.5th gen wheel dimensionally are the same except for the center cap(5th)/lugged design(5.5th)....I think what it is that doesn't fit is when using 2004 calipers....but all the measuring I've done and fitment with both wheels I can't see that happening to just the earlier 5th gen 17" (SE) center capped wheels....I hate beleiving everything I read anyway.....

You sure? The distance between the inner spoke edge and the brake rotor outboard surface are identical and if that was true the wheels would have a different measured clearance btwn the inner spoke edge and the outboard rotor surface.....i think it the 2004 calipers that's the issue! THE 2004 CALIPERS ARE DIFFERENT THAN THE 2005-2008 CALIPERS SOMEHOW!!!!!!
