Which Foglights? If you have HID fogs PLEASE STEP INSIDE
I am going to change up the look of my ride for the last few months before it snows down here in Toronto.
I am going to add fog lights to my 5th gen bumper (mine didnt come with fogs FTL) and run HID fogs.
I am debating these two foglights right now:
CLEAR LENS FOGS WITHOUT SHROUD
BLACK HOUSING FOGS WITH SHROUD
QUESTIONS:
IS ANYONE ON HERE RUNNING EITHER OF THESE FOG LIGHTS WITH HIDS?
DOES THE OEM NISSAN FOG LIGHT FOR THE 5TH GEN HAVE A SHROUD OR NOT?
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

which kelvin bulbs are those? I just did 3000k hids and the bulbs seemed to be to long and touch the metal of the reflector. i did see that they offer a mini h3 bulb. The only problem i had with mine were that the bulbs looked green anytime during the day or night, i figured they were grounding out on that reflector.

his look like 6 or 8ks..but onthe note of the bulb touching, you have to push it out of the way, i used a screwdriver...as far as it being green...you have to run them for a while...i think after a week mine started being the real golden yellow..i got pulled for my 3Ks being 'green' before

Most, if not all conversion kits say somewhere "for offroad use only".
Anyway, relevent to the topic - I run OEM fogs with the glare shields in them, 6k hids in the fogs and 6k in the low beams. Clean look, and I dont get bothered by the cops at all.

One of our base guards said I had to shut off my 8k HID fogs because they looked blue. I told him by federal law he is required to wear a reflective vest while working in the road (gate). He let me go......stupid gate guards.

You're BOTH wrong, and now you just pissed-off a Gate Guard.
Smooth move?
I think not.....
There's a REASON they have these rules, you know.
8k is too blue....and it looks like an EMERGENCY vehicle.
i doubt that's the last you'll hear from those boys.
It's YOUR ride tho!

it 'looks' like an emergency vehicle is hogwash IMHO. their 'blue' lights are super dark blue and strobes/flashing. its like they cant tell a difference between a car on the street and an 'EMERGENCY' vehicle, granted i have 6Ks and 3Ks, top and bottom, respectively, but to those that have those, so the f what.
And the gate guard cannot get pissed if HE HIMSELF cant follow the Federal Law himself. there are too many self righteous/over **** enforcers of the law.

I'm just sayin' -- this is what that law is based-on.
Stupid? Maybe -- but so is the general SPEED limit, everywhere we go.
Seat-belts, safety locks, safety windows -- don't get me started.
--and i hate to say it, but I agree with Sooner on this one ......
Two Wrongs don't make a Right.

Damn right. I remember one of the officers on post told me the pipe on my Eagle Talon was too loud: so I simply asked him what was the legal decibel level. He couldn't tell me lol

Of which -- I am NOT one.

So, when you say two wrongs don't make a right, I should have not mentioned he is not complying with the law and putting himself in danger? If I didn't mention it, I would be doing him a disservice since my occupation is "Occupational Safety & Health."

So, anyway, I just listened to a long explanation by a truck driver last night on how the "fog lights" on 18-wheelers and cars aren't actual fog lights at all, just "road lamps," as they are marked in the Freightliner and International trucks.
He claimed that actual fog lights were what you see on German/European cars. The crazy bright "rear fog" on the Mercedes, for instance, is for parking in front of your house. You leave the light on in the rear so other drivers can more easily see your €40,000 Benz in the middle of the night through fog as thick as buttermilk.
He says any "fog lights" with the small white bulbs won't do crap in actual fog as the light must be yellow to sort of pierce the fog and not get scattered. Actual fog lights are massive, yellow, and infrequently seen because North America just doesn't get thick fog like Europe.
If I slapped yellow bulbs in my "fog lights" on the Maxima, does that make them fog lights? Or will they still be just road/driving lamps? Who has been pulled over for having yellow or HID blue fog lights/road lamps?

That's kind of what I was thinking. He said stock housings but for the bulbs to be THAT yellow I feel like he would have had to add lexus capsules or something. Either way, those look really nice.

Get the fog kit from courtesy nissan man it somes with everything you need if you get the one from ebay or whoever else they have a plug that plugs somewhere under the dash that noone has figured out yet and you"ll end up just using the housings, getting the relay and headlight stalk with foglight switch from somewhere else.
