Odd starting issue, looking for some insight...

So about a year ago while ssim'ing my intake mani i decided to take my throttle body off and clean it. I didnt use any chemicals but just wiped it inside and out. I turned the throttle plate alot while doing this and i remembered reading beforehand about how it is a big no no to do so with these dbw cars. So i put everything back together and went to start the car and it would just turnover nonstop but not firing. Starter turns over just fine so thats not the issue. No matter how many times i try to start it, it just wouldn't do anything. However, when i turn the key to the ''on'' position and wait 2 seconds then turn the ignition the car fires up just fine and runs flawlessly. Fuel pump crossed my mind right off the bat but i don't know. I have never got around to pulling codes as i know i should first. I've done many searches and came up with nothing related to my issue. And if there is then i missed it somehow. But i just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this problem so i may have an idea of what to expect. Thank you for reading, any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Could be a damaged motor in the throttle body if you were forcing the butterfly valve open in it. Also, try searching for "idle relearn procedure" and give that a try too.

I have performed the idle relearn procedure numerous times with no results over the past several months. I have reset the ecu before and when i do so, the car will fire right up when i go straight to turning the key, idle for a few moments, then idle dips for a second and the ''slip'' and ''vdc off'' lights come on. Then when i go to start it i'm back to the same problem i mentioned ealier. I will try to remember to pull the codes tomorrow if i have time and see where i can get from there.

pull one of your plugs and see if you're getting spark when you go straight to "start". Kinda sounds like something is screwy with the fuel pump relay, but i would test for spark first.

So i finally got around to pulling codes on the car and results are dissapointing. Just got the typical bank 1 bank 2 o2 heater circuit and shift solenoid codes. Was hoping to find something that would help point me in the right direction.

Thats a good idea thanks i will definitely give it a shot tomorrow morning and see what happens. And the fuel pump and/or its related parts had my interest as well. I will dig further into those parts tomorrow.
