ABS issue
ABS issue
ok, long story short when its wet out, my abs kicks in all the time, and yet the light never came on. so, i would just pull the fuse when it rains and problem temporally fixed(would rather drive with no abs than destroy it). this has been going on for months. well, today, it POURED, and of course the abs kicked in all the time, but for the 1st time, the abs light actually came on!
im going to my buds house on sat, i am thinking the sensor has some dirt/grime in there, since the problem was never consistent. anything else you guys can think of while i have the wheels off?

Pulling the fuse isn't going to keep anything from destroying itself. Maybe it's "kicking in" because your brakes are actually grabbing hard and trying to lock up. It certainly won't hurt anything to clean up the pickups and the cog rings. Just be careful with the sensors, as they are just thin plastic wrapped around a very fine wire winding, with thin metal inserts. Don't pry on them any unless you want to replace them. A shop or individual with a Consult II scanner would be able to scan ABS codes, if there are any. A regular engine scan tool won't do it.
I understand that on the 5th gen you need to spray off the ABS sensors at the wheels with brake cleaner every 30 or 40 thousand miles.
That would be the simplest solution for you if it works, and it is consistent with the symptoms you are getting.
