Uh, yes it will. It's called a Voluntary Repo, and even though you did not make them come and get it, it is still viewed as a Repo and will affect your credit, and your ability to get a car loan in the future, drastically. Probably knock 200 points off your credit score...

So I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and replace the engine

I was going to take 6 days off of work. Do you guys think this is enough time, full time to complete the swap? Also, any suggestions on where to get reman'd engines? The only ones I see on car-part.com for an 03 are engines with 200k+ on them for over $1,000.

Any special parts/gaskets I need?

 

Time to call up some buddies and buy a case of beer and some steaks to throw on the grill. Check on Craig's List too. I was browsing around for Maxima stuff and actually came across a DE-K engine, and a few 3.5's too.
