Will a 2001 hood fit a 2003?

I recently had front end collision and need to have my hood, bumper and fender replaced.

I just found a junk yard (200 miles away) that has the hood and fender.. but its off a 2001 blue maxima.

Before I drive all the way out there to pick it up, I just want to make sure that a 2001 hood and fender will fit a 2003.

Also, the guy claims its a dark blue maxima, but I could not find any 2001 maximas in dark blue. Can someone verify this for me pls.

Thanks!

Thanks guys! As far as 2001 in dark blue goes, I couldn't find any, but after looking into it more, it seems some of the 2001's in Special Edition came in Majestic Blue..

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/224623/2001-nissan-maxima

I hope this 2001's blue color code matches my 2003 majestic blue.

Also, how difficult is it to replace the hood? I mean, when I go to the junk yard (200 miles away), I will have to replace my hood, right at that junk yard, as I won't be able to fit the hood in my car. Is hood replacement a DIY job? Any write up on this?

Thanks!

Also you will need to unhook ur hood squirter hose and the clips off that run up the passanger side hood hinge...the 4 hood nuts are 12mm, and a sharp little flat head screwdriver will come in handy when loosening up the horshoe clips on the hood struts( be sure not to take them all the way off just pry them out untill you can pop the strut off....like said above no more than a 15-20 minute job

I've always found it helpful to have a 2nd person help you lift off the old hood and to lower the new hood in place to keep from struggling with the weight and to get the holes aligned and bolts put in.

When you get the new hood, are you sure bolting it on your car and driving 200 miles will be wise? If you hit something hard enough that you need a new bumper and fender as well, it is my guess that you have bent other components and things might not line up. For example, what are you going to do when you put the "new" hood on and it won't properly latch closed? are you going to make the 200 mile trip hoping the hood dosen't magically pop open at 65mph?

I whacked a deer on New Year's Eve and need a new hood and bumper cover. But in order to make everything fit safely, I need to replace or reshape the structure behind the grill, and that is not something I would want to do 200 miles from my (heated) shop with only a 12mm socket wrench and a small flat screwdriver.

The top rad support had to be totally replaced after my front end collision, mind you my hood was bent up pretty bad. As said the hood latch might be out of position if yours has taken much of a hit to bend the hood in anyway.

My top piece of the rad supprt is cracked on my 2002 maxima from a front end collision also ... If I could just change the top piece and the lock I would be straight ..... I replaced my bumper left fender and hood as well with a new aftermarket parts but the hood wont latch down !!guess from the miss alignment as they were saying Earlier in the thread.... The lock is like 40 on ebay so thats something lite ..... can someone help !?

That was posted almost 4 years ago. He probably has made the trip already.
