So go outside to start the max today, and it will not turn over. Never had a problem before, and it has been cold as *&^t this year in Chicago.
-Battery is new, and has plenty of power.
-Cranking sounds just like it normally does.
-I can hear the fuel pump turn on and smell slight fuel under the hood after cranking over for a few seconds
-SES light is on but unread
Coils perhaps?
Any ideas?
Thanks.

The same thing happened to my wife's '03. It was one of the camshaft pos. sensors. Good luck.Originally Posted by SRTuLTR

That would be a pretty rare reason for the non-start.Originally Posted by aleem

The two sensors mentioned above are frequently the cause.

........more than likely, your problem! Try unplugging your MAF, too see if it will start! Most of the time Crank/Cam sensor failure will cause this.....check for codes! Also put an inductive timing light pickup around the ignition coilpack connection wire to see if there is any signal being sent to the coilpack via the ECU, you can tywrap the trigger while your crank it.....If not, The crank/cam sensor is the culprit! Thanks for the heads up guys! I don't have a scanner so I can't check codes. It's most likely a sensor, if it wasn't 0ºF I would be troubleshooting this on my own, but I had it towed to a friends shop this morning. Will post results when I get her back!

I once had the same problem when it was very cold outside. I found somewhere on the org that if you put the car in neutral (For Auto Trans as well), and start, it worked for me. Worth a try.

I'm surprised none of you have mentioned his starter. "Water in the lines" lol!
Anyway, I had the exact same problem, which is pretty general what you said and could apply to anyone .... Try to tab on your starter which is under the air filter I believe on the right of your engine if you're standing infront of it. Tap it with like ... a broom stick a couple times hard but not .... hulk smash. If it starts, then you knnow your problem. If it doesnt start, even with tapping, that still doesnt rule out starter.
