racing seats

Was just wondering what racing seats you guys recommend/use for a 5.5gen and possibly price and location you bought from? I saw some pictures of sparco seats that look nice from other users but not sure how much they cost or even what model they were. Also is it possible to buy a premade mounting bracket?

Question is what is your budget when it comes to seats?

Brackets exist. Seats can be extremely expensive, if you get real Sparcos, etc. Nicer models are around 500 a seat. Also, they look a little overboard in a sedan, in my opinion.

I'd like to stay around 400 or 500. I realize the racing seats might not be as comfortable as stock seats, but I would like to try and find some that don't kill my back. Basically a decent seat that will work for every day driving as well as some aggressive driving here and there. I've seen lots of racing seats but I am not sure which ones would be more comfortable for daily driving.

Only buying one seat since I'm the only one that really drives my car, so a 400 or 500 dollar seat isn't a problem (as opposed to two seats for 500).

if you want some decent new ones, theyre around $500 each. my pair were around $800 for the pair, theyre Sparco Street seats which are intended for smaller coupes like AE86/240sx/etc but theyre awesome. if you want, theres generic no-name seats on Ebay that are around $500 a pair and sometimes come with brackets. Sparco should make 5th gen brackets still, 3rd gens were discontinued though so i had to get some made up

and i cant see how theyre overboard in a sedan, so STI, EVO, Skyline sedans, etc shouldnt have them? theyre far more comfy than stock seats and some of the non-hardcore seats like mine recline and fold down and such

also, NVM the backseat being out in the pic, was doing something else there too

Corbeau seats are going to be your best option considering price. Unless you want ebay seats lol.

Some members have posted pictures here of racing seats. Search for them. They have ranged from Corbeau to spraco, Recaro, and even Bride.

Edit.

I bought my Recaro leather seats on ebay 3 years ago for about $1200 and took them to Wedge Engineering in Long Beach, CA to weld a bracket for them for another $400. Considering most of your contact with the car is by sitting in the seat, you should try to budget as much as you can for good seats. I love the feeling of sitting in my car, every time I climb in, primarily because of the seats.

Here is my thread on the topic:

DeusExMaxima, wow those do look nice!! I might go with a somewhat cheaper option though, guess we'll see.

Does anyone know what to do about the airbag connector? My current seats have airbags and I know for a fact any racing seat I find will not have an airbag. Is there a way to bypass the switch so the warning light doesn't come on?

Thanks!! I thought you might like them. If you want functioning airbags, there is a trick to keeping them working. The OEM seats have a cushion sensor that senses when someone is sitting in the seat. You have to remove that sensor and curl it up and install it under the racing seat. I elected not to do this since I dont like bombs blowing up in my car. The seat belts will protect me just fine. In my car, the mirrors stopped working when I installed the seats. It is most likely an easy fix but since I am the only driver, I dont really care.
