Keyless FOB Repair

All 3 of my keyless remotes stopped working on my Max (not at the same time). Tried replacing the batteries first but that didn't help. So I completely disassembled them and you wouldn't believe the amount of crud in there. There was green sticky crud around all four microswitches that froze them in the closed position. I didn't have any electrical parts cleaner so I used my MAF cleaner on them. I was able to unstick all four microswitches on one of the remotes but the other two remotes were hopeless. After that I cleaned the case and rubber part with warm soapy water and now I have one working remote. I had to reprogram the remote since it was without power for a long time. When the remote is working you can put it to your ear and hear the microswitch click when you push it. If you don't hear the click then the remote is clogged. Avoid buying used remotes from ebay since they will most likely be clogged with the green crud too. I made that mistake.

The batteries were too old and corroded it up.

I have bought new fobs off ebay before for cheap and they worked great.

Possible, but I don't think it was the batteries. I tested them and they were still at 1.5v and there wasn't any corrosion on them. The green crud was on the opposite side of the rubber separator where the circuit board is.

Oh. That's odd.

I just figured since you said green, which is usually the color.

Mine has that green stuff too. Maybe it was like the anti corrosion but it mixed with dirt or something? I got my panic micro button un-stuck but the rest are still stuck lol.
