Need help. Bad idle. Any ideas?

Hello all.

I have a 2000 Max with 176,000 miles on it. I recently had the engine swapped out because the old one was fixing to throw a rod.

Since getting the car back, I have drove it around a couple of days and the day before yesterday, it had been idling very low (around 400-500 rpms), and stalling sometimes. I pulled the codes and wound up having to change the plugs and camshaft sensor.

Now, the car is idling between 1000 and 1200 rpms while sometimes surging to 1500-1600 rpms. Every now and then it will fall to 500 rpm, but for the most part, it idles between 1000 and 1200 rpms. Also, sometimes while putting it in Park, the car will rev up to 2500-3000 rpms on its own. I will have to shut the car off to stop it.

I checked the codes again a few minutes ago and I am only getting p0445 and p1401, which pertain to the evap solenoid and the egr circuit. I am at my wit's end. It seems like something so simple, but I can't seem to track it down. BTW, I have tried the idle reset procedure at least 10 times already. Also, I noticed that the stepper motor does not make contact with the stopper. I tried adjusting it to no avail. Could this be my problem? I can't think of anything else.

I have the searched the .org for hours looking for a solution. Hopefully, someone on the .org will have some input.

Thanks in advance.

Quick update

I just reset the computer and tried the idle air relearn again with no change other that the stepper motor now touches the stopper. I adjusted the idle screw and the idle is better around 800 rpms at park, but 500-600 rpm in drive. With the AC on, it drops another 150 rpms. It does stall sometimes while riding with the AC on, but it is good with the AC off, unless I do some hard braking coming to a stop, where the rpms will drop to 200-250 rpms until I give some gas. Any ideas?

Any comments are appreciated.

(BTW I still only get the p0445 and p1401 codes.)
