Hey everybody, I've had my 2003 maxima for a little while and I'm slowly learning how to take care of it thanks to your help. But I'm having an issue every time I turn right. I get a crazy vibration. Now I checked all the obvious things like tires hubs bearings and cv axles. Is there anything I'm missing. A friend of mine says my differential could be going bad. My car is limited slip by the way. I'm kind of stuck I just don't want to keep replacing parts and. Not fixing anything. The help would be great.

New owner, old car.

Greetings!!

I just acquired a 2001 SE with Manual Trans. It has it's issues and I will be using the search function for most of that. New to the forum so if anyone would be so kind as to link me a "read this first" thread, that would be great!

Thanks!

Unfortunately, our sticky threads don't work very well - lots of dead links. However, the Search function works reasonably well. Alternately, why don't you just ask and we'll try to point you. What issues does your car have?

Restore the factory headlights. Trust me please. Lol. I have taken it upon myself to not only consider myself the official org spokesman for keeping the factory headlights, but have also adorned the badge of shame upon myself for not going with the factory headlights.

In short, there are absolutely no headlights offered aftermarket that come even close to the quality of the OEM lights. Clean em up and enjoy.

Also, welcome to the org, and I like the Max. Looks good.

03 SE 6 speed

Picked up a 2003 SE last year. 6 speed, HLSD. Since I got it, I have put on a few mods : Moog sway bar links, Moog inner/outer tie rods, Hawk QuietSlot rotors up front, Brembo blanks in rear, w/Hawk HPS pads all around, H&R springs all around, Tokico Illumina up front, KYB GR2 in rear, Moog strut mounts all around, 3M Crystalline CR40 tint, K&N filter, Goodridge SS brake lines, ES shifter bushings, BRM cat-back exhaust. Needless to say, the car works much better now!!!

Pic not long after I first got it, after an exterior detail job.

New here.

I'm not new to my car, 2000 Maxima 5spd base model. I've had her for almost 10 years. But I am new to this forum.

Recently found the value in forums and the wonderful people on them that are almost always willing to give away their knowledge.
Big fan of ft86.com for my FR-S.

Glad to be here and looking forward to learning the basics of my car.
She's got right at 200,000 miles on her and starting to need more attention. So I figured what better place to start.

Nissan owner again

Hi there, new owner of a 00 Nissan Maxima Se. Let me start by saying that I'm impressed with this car. My first car was a 93 240sx and I loved it. After my brother crashed it I bought a 00 Honda Civic Si and really felt like I downgraded. Well after 8 years with it I sold it and picked up the Maxima. Boy what a difference that was. Now I remember why I love Nissans so much. This thing hauls ***! Since I have kids and this is my daily driver for now I wanna keep it a quiet family sedan but also able to give me a little extra "umph" when it's just me driving. Overall I feel like this car is gonna grow on me.

First Maxima

I just purchased my first Maxima, Its an 01 SE 20th anniversary edition with 167,000 km on it. It has the 5 speed manual and all the bells and whistles and doesn't seem to be abused. paid 3500 cdn with a 6 month warranty. My last Nissan was an 85 4wd pick-up which I regret selling to this day. I pick it up in a few days, will post pictures soon.

Great site!

New to the forum

Hello Everyone. A couple of weeks ago I purchased a 2001 Maxima SE 5spd. Car has a broken lower control arm and a cracked wheel. This car will be my project for now, then it will become my daily driver. I have so far replaced spark plugs, belts, both air filters, fog lights and cleaned up the headlights of that horrible half black paint. Here she is as I got her.

Hello org members!

Obviously I'm new here and wanted to say hello. I just purchased a 2002 Maxima SE with 112k miles on it. Its super black and so far I love it. Trans is auto in order to keep the speeding tickets down and so far none yet :-)

I plan on doing some simple cosmetic mods like purchasing aftermarket black tail lights and making the turn signal match the red brake light. Maybe a 30% tint on the windows and a spring kit to lower it a tiny bit.

Other than that I just want to maintain the car and have it last me as long as possible. I have cruised around the forums here and have already found some great info.

Just got a 03 Maxima SE automatic. Only 73000 km and the interior is spotless. Body has no rust. I'm very happy with the car. Fastest thing I've ever had. I plan to get rims when I need new summer tires, in a year maybe. Looking forward to looking here for advice when the simple things break.

introduction time !

Hi .org!

My previous ride was an incredible grannie MX-3 MAZDA with 300K but damn that lil' V6 1.8L was a blast for the weight...

I bought my Blaky Max 02 SE 6MT speed last October from a friend that was too young of a driver to pay the insurance ( BC is a ripoff for that...)
Since he told me it got the infamous cylinder misfire, I got it for $2000 and a bit above 130K mileage.

Great engine really, despite the misfire and the obvious oil burning I saw from the muffler.
Got tricked by a dishonest mechanic into doing a rebuilt for $2500 that never changed the issue....Even worse, after that "repair" the engine does the clanking sound at cold start but just for 2/3 sec, probably due to chain tensioner pads or the oil pump not pumping enough, idk. But since it started AFTER the rebuild I wonder if the dude didn't f..ed up something or forget to put back something in it....

My new mechanic is great and advise me not to spend millions to try to repair a5th gen engine that is obviously badly engineered to begin with.....shame on you Nissan ;P

So I did a full tune up ($500), put a nice set of P7 ($1000) on it, got the cylinders cleaned of black deposit and changed to full synthetic oil and top quality filter hoping it will reduce the oil burn.
I then started looking here for advices on how to fix that engine for good....still looking and wandering if shouldnbt buy another used engine that won't have the chronicle issues of my VQ35.....

The community here is awesome and I learned tons of things, and I started to get some basics upgrades to improve the hp and try to compensate for that misfire....

I do love the car, really and that engine is a beast once you've past 5000rpm, just love to smoke noisy/ricey sporty cars with my sedan
I intend to try some local race-X soon....I just love the track!!

My apologies in advance if my English is not always good, it's not my first language.

My perf parts so far: K&N filter (installed), NWP spacer kit, EZ street Megan ( both installed next month)
My wish list:
CAI, RSB, maybe headers, a chip, y-pipe and cat, some nicer rims, some discreet body improvements (Anzo black halo head/tail lights, smoked side markers, body kit Stillen and a huge clean/wax/clay...)
my goal is to improve the hp and the handling, mostly.

I am still drooling on the new G37 X, this engine on a 4X4 is the devil on wheels

I bought this a little while ago!

Hey everyone, relatively new here... bought my '00 Maxima GLE a little while back. Take a peek and share your thoughts/ideas...

I have another post about my exhaust set-up, Natures Rumble - find it in the "What did you do to your Maxima today" thread.

Completely stock/ 142,000km/ Gets bad fuel economy for some reason, light driving (non-aggressive) in city & highway mix gives about 500(+/-) km's/ It needs new rims but I'll wait till my tires are done! It's Sunlit Sand and I'm not sure where to go with it.

Recently acquired 02 Max 6 speed

Just picked up an 02 Maxima with a 6 speed. 125k Miles, one owner.

This is my first 5th Gen maxima. However i've owned a long list of Nissans.
I needed a good reliable daily driver so the search began with G35 sedans and a must have 6 speed tranny. During the search I found this Clean Charcoal grey Maxima, drove to look at it and ended up buying it.
So far so good, everything seems to be working as it should.

I said i wasn't going to Mod it but now that I have it, i'm going to do a few things to it.

Slap on 3 pcs 20" x 9" Silver face with a polish lip wheels that I have in storage.
Lower it about 2" with springs
Injen Intake
Greddy/Stillen exhaust
Stillen Strut bar
Front lip

Heres a few pictures of her (haven't named here yet)

Bought a maxima!

So I just acquired a 2002 maxima SE 6 speed. Very zippy car. Unfortunately she has 270,000 km on her. And the oil valve cover leaked oil into my wiring harness and killed my alternator. So that is all being replaced by Friday and a new coolant system out in with some custom hoses. Any tips or anything would be great. I'm mainly a diesel guy as I'm a farmer but for $400 I couldn't pass this up
