5.5 gen Master switch problem!

Hey guys, I was taking apart my door panel and came across a problem. When taking off the window master switch, I removed the harness that cause all the windows wires to be scattered and out of order. I now cannot move the driver side front and back windows. anybody have any pictures or ways to help me out with this? here are pics to what i am referring to. I could even use just a picture of anybody's 5.5 gen master window switch harness. any help would be appreciated.

If I understand your post correctly, I think you are saying that the wires came out of the connector.

When I look at the wiring diagram in the 2002 FSM and compare it to your photos, they don't match. But the 2002 FSM matches the photo posted by shdwonthsun.

So here's the pin out for the connector. Using your 2nd photo (004.jpg), your thumb is on pin # 1. Starting at your thumb and working to the right (away from your thumb), the top row is numbered 1 2 3 4 5 6 7. There is a gap between pins 4 & 5. On the bottom row below your thumb are pins 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16.

per the FSM:

1 - yellow with green stripe
2 - blue
3 - green
4 - white with red stripe (12 volts)
5 - black (ground)
6 - orange with black stripe
7 - green with red stripe
8 - blue
9 - green with white stripe
10 - green
11 - white with blue stripe
12 - red
13 - yellow
14 - green with yellow stripe
15 - green with white stripe
16 - empty

If you look at the pictures posted by shdwonthsun, his first photo is the top row pins but reverse of your 004.jpg photo. His photo has pin 7 on the left and counts down to 1 as you look to the right.

His 2nd photo is of the bottom row and is oriented the same as your 004.jpg photo where pin 8 is on the left side.

As best as I can tell from the photos, you definitely have pins 1 2 3 4 wrong. Pins 8 through 15 are good and I can't tell for sure about pins 5 6 7 16.

I hope you can understand this, I had a hard time trying to put this into words.

That's great to hear. I was a little worried that you might have blown up the switch as the 12 volt wire was in the wrong spot.

Ugh, I did this exact thing last night replacing my window motor - the harness end popped apart and I had wires everywhere!

Unfortunately, the 2003 is wired SLIGHTLY different - the power wire runs through the smaller connector for example.

I looked over the FSM, but not having any electrical know-how I can't figure out which wires are what.

Could someone take a look at the 2003 FSM and let me know how the wires are color-coded? DennisMik?

The connectors on the wire harness are the same as the 2002 and the pins are numbered the same way. Looking at the 2003 FSM, the big connector does not have wires in 2 pins. The little connector is missing the middle wire and the other 2 wires are ground and power.

1 yellow
2 white/black
3 red
4 orange/black
5 green
6 orange/blue
7 green/white
8 blue
9 green/white
10 white/blue
11 green
12
13 green/yellow
14 blue
15 green/red
16

17 black = ground
18
19 white/red = 12 volts from circuit breaker

Pin 8 and 14 are both blue but are not interchangeable. Pin 14 comes from the body control module while pin 8 goes to the window motor in the driver's door.

Fixed this just before the Holidays - thanks a ton Dennis!

As it turned out, the wiring was totally different from the 2002.

I'm glad I saw this post, I have to crack open my driverside door in the near future. Now that I know that the switch is easy to break means I'll be extra careful when working on it.

For the 2003 maxima as per the fsm 5 and11 are both green are they interchangable? I ask cause at first my problem was the front driver now its the front driver and back passenger.

NO!
Pin 5 goes to the passenger rear door window switch.
Pin 11 goes to the driver's door window motor.

You'll have to trace the green wire for the window motor and make sure it goes in pin 5.

**** ^^^^^^ ****
Correction - wire for the window motor goes in pin 11.

That helps it appears that all of the thinner wires are to the motor clip located on the door panel...don't see why I didn't notice that I have three doubles...2 blue, 2 green and 2 green/white

Srsly though. Run jumper cables from the battery to the motor terminals. There's 2 wires. Connecting one way makes the motor go down. connecting the other way makes it go up.

If that doesn't work the motor is smoked completely and you need a motor. I don't know how to put the window up manually if this is the case but I suspect you need to disconnect it from the regulator assembly and lift it manually.

After all the aggravation got mad cut the wire on the regulator and lifted it up manually....now with everything disconnected the front passenger stops working...power steering hose start leaking fluid sure they aren't related but damn these parts are not cheap

Sorry to hear about the power steering hose, those things are a pita to change. I've never had to change a 5th gen motor or regulator, but in my 4th gen you can take the motor off regardless of what position the window is at.
