I would like to know why is there a tow hitch on that maxima? I know we have torque but I don't think we have that much torque.

(2) Two Front OEM dust boots with bumpstops ( come together)

are you sure this is the right part number? what's coming up from the search is a swaybar end link kit for each of these...

(2) Two Front OEM dust boots with bumpstops ( come together)

I'm just wondering why not get the mounts for the rear? Just trying to understand the whole thing.

K90431 and K90432 are NOT STRUT MOUNTS. They are sway bar end links.

You need Moog K90655, two of them. Rear mounts are simply not necessary, they're practically not wearable parts.

Sorry to be a necromancer (I can't post new threads yet) but I have a question about the bump stop/boot combos. I totally failed at the install of the Moog ones, as you can see from this pic:

https://plus.google.com/photos/10194...CNf_v9jLz76rGw

They've been pushed down the shaft and the bump stop (white part, can't be seen in this picture) has slipped inside the boot. I'm guessing I was supposed to use some zip ties and the washer that came in the kit to keep it up? Oops... Help would be appreciated, thanks!

Also, if anyone is contemplating OEM vs aftermarket (Moog/KYB), I would suggest OEM, however I did absolutely fail at this install Wish I had seen the advice from this thread first!

The dealer here wanted to charge me $100 per side for the OEM boots, I'm gonna look into courtesyparts.com instead...

Anyone have any tips for the Moog/KYB install though? If I can make those work it would be nice, since I already have them.

Also try nissanpartsasap.com. Even paying the additional shipping to CA would be worth it.

What exactly is your question? Moog strut mounts with KYB GR-2's? Nothing special about the install.

Dj knows his suspension so trust him.one thing i did notice in that pic was the leakage around that brake line you might want to check that out unless it was there from you replacing the line.

Yep, I had just finished changing the brake line (it had a nice slice in it). Good eye, though

Hi dj! The part I'm having trouble with is the Moog bump stop (similar to the KYB version). I have Tokico blue shocks. The bump stop doesn't stay up at the top of the shock, I think I was supposed to put a washer in there maybe? Also, the white part (stopper) keeps falling into the end of the black bellows. Do you need to put zip ties on there to hold it in place once you have the stopper in the end of the bellows properly? I think I'll probably just go for the OEMs like you mentioned, though, since if I'm taking the car apart again, I might as well do the job right, eh!

For you Canadians out there, unfortunately nissanpartsasap.com doesn't ship to Canada (just called them) but courtesyparts.com does.

A zip tie would do it. There's even a small groove in place for a zip tie to fit.

But I'd still go OEM.

Assuming they're new, return em as defective. Check your PM man

Bumpstops have a certain function. Dustboots have a different function.

It just so happens that with OEM, these two functions are integrated into one part number, whereas aftermarket parts come in two separate pieces.

Colloquially, you buy dustboots and the bumpstops come included - whether they're one piece or two.

You need all four OEM dustboots. Buy a pair of Moog front strut mounts - part # is K90655. They're about $40 each from Amazon. That's all you need for the core spring/strut job.

Yea, pretty much all you need for a core strut job - struts, springs, boots, mounts (which will include bearings)

No need to cut bumpstops with Eibach's.

If the ones on your car are in good condition/not torn to shreds/not a pile of rings at the base of your strut, then sure you can reuse it. Just clean and condition the rubber.

Correct. I'd inspect them before install day - so that you know if you need to order and have them on hand. I've seen VERY few that are still in good condition after 50k miles.

My pleasure to help. Best way to thank me is to support me by purchasing a spare tire cover - info is in my sig.

Struts come on their own. You're buying 4 OEM dustboots - 2 front, 2 rear. There is some hardware that will need to be switched over, but not dustboots. You're using the new ones.

Don't hijack threads.

First, pick your springs based on the desired height from here:
http://www.shiftice.com/spring_strut_decision.html

Then, post your question again here:

Not sure I would pick my springs based only on the desired ride height.

^^ Agree.

There should a general understanding (aside from coilovers) that the lower you go, the harsher the ride....but if you read the link, it already states this.

The new suspension looks good. I just installed those same rims with the g35 oem tire sizes. I also have a drop on eibachs. I bet you have a lot of rubbing in the rear. I certainly did even after grinding the rear tabs. I just removed the eibach rear springs and replaced with the oem ones. Much much better. The ride is of course smoother, NO rubbing even with the big 245/45/18 rear tires, and it looks great. With a full tank of gas the wheel gap space in the front and rear is exactly two fingers. The rear sits at just under 1/2 higher than the front instead of the usual rake on Nissan where the front sits higher.

Curious question for the OP: how's the ride on the KYB GR2's w/ the H-techs?
