Sound when closing door
Sound when closing door
I was at my local dealership the other day checking out the 2002's.Went in the new altima,i found that it was ok(our maxima's have better looking interiors). When i closed the door i heard this noise that u hear when u close an american car.Like a really chep sound. Now i went to the max and realized that it also did that noise but not as bad as the altima. Why is it that our MAXIMA 2000+ makes this noise.Shouldn't cars that cost 29 000 to 31 000$ not have that noise.

I noticed this on an Altima at the dealership, the rear door sounded very cheap when I closed it. I didn't feel this way about the 2002 Maxima I sat in though, everything felt very solid. They may have improved the stiffness a bit from the 2k-2k1, a lot of things have been upgraded on the 2k2.
You guys should hear the doors close on my 16-year old Monte Carlo SS.
The Max is sooo solid compared to that car.
The Monte is my alter-ego.

Best sounding doors from cars of my friends and relatives:
Friends 92 Camry V6 LE
Friends 99 VW Golf
Uncles 2000 GS300
Brothers 99 Corolla
Worst:
-My 98 GXE max
-friends 95 Mazda 626 (did a poor job putting it back together after speaker install)
The max rattles and creaks...
My friends camry closes nice and clean, despite being 6 years older. The interior panels and quality of plastics seems the same in my bros Corolla and my Max, both are equally cheap feeling, yet the max is put together worse, at least the Corolla is silent going over bumps and stuff. The doors close a LOT cleaner.
I heard 5th gens are way improved though, from ones I've driven in it seemed that way..

So far the best sounding doors are from Lexus and Toyota. I remember the Dodge Durango having some solid sounding doors too..
