O2 sensor issues again..what to do what to do

Guys,

I changed out my 2 cam sensors, and 1 o2 sensor i think around october/2010. My cam sensors simultaneously failed about 3 months later. Now, my O2 i had replaced (b2 s2) also has decided to die. I reset the CEL and it goes away for about 100 miles or so and comes back.

I had ordered all the parts through southpoint nissan, which has been great, and they state that there might be something else wrong with the car. it has 162k on it, clean, well maintained...what could make the O2 throw off a "high voltage" error ?

I run 93 octane in it, and it drives fine. but that CEL is a ****-off. I hope this isnt a case where i need to replace my gas tank cap..that would be retarded.

Thanks !

Have you swapped out the precat? I take it you have a P1167 or 0058 code?

Wait, so what's currently wrong with it?

The O2 sensor doesn't matter b/c it's a secondary. Just sim its dumb ***.

But at 162k (and if you have stock cats) I can't believe you haven't grenaded the engine.

O2 Simulator

Had a similar problem in my 00 Max. had a p420 code (i think) and it was saying that the precat was bad. Not wanting to spend about $600 dollars, i put an o2 simulator on it. 1200 miles later, and it is working perfectly. It is small and is easily tucked right into the o2 harness. Best $40 dollars i ever spent!!!!! Easy to wire in, took about 2 hours after reading the directions carefully. Has a small led light to let you know if it is cycling through properly. I purchased mine at o2simulator.com Free Shipping! Let me know if you decide to use tis and if it works out for you.

All I know is that it has been working perfectly for me. I know many other (non maxima) owners who have used these as well, and I have never heard anything bad about them. The way I look at it is- it is only 40 bucks, and even though it should work, even if it doesn't your only out the 40 bucks.

Do the precats go out that quick ? I just had my O2 changed less than 5-7k ago...and its blown already ? this has got to be the most retarded thing ever. Cams went out early too.

My precat went out at around 99k miles. A month after replacing it and all O2's, I got my car totaled. BAH!

You can just hollow out the precat and get O2 sim or replace the precat with a aftermarket for about $150.

85k miles - just threw CEL on the #1 Rear Bank....forget the exact code.

Coincidentally, after a tank of crappy Ethanol Blended gas. Stupid me.

Let the research begin.

re

I just filled up yesterday, Car is driving better, CEL is on still. I am going to reset the CEL tonight, and drive around. Its a pain in the butt, considering the CEL comes on so fast, for the CAM and O2 sensor. How about the whole, change your gas cap idea ? does that even WORK ?

I put two tanks of Good 93oct non-ethanol fuel thru my car, and SES light disappeared -- as if by MAGIC!!

Back to a strict diet of non-ethanol fuel for me. Should have NEVER strayed.
Cart runs better AND I get better fuel economy....well worth the premium I pay over reg or blended fuel.

Need of o2 simulator

I'm kinda new on the org but this thread is the closest to what I'm looking for. I have a 2002 Maxima with after market headers(hot shots) and in need of finding o2 sims for it. I saw that o2simulator.com was already mentioned and was wondering if there was another site that i could order from, because my inspection is up next month and o2simulator.com is still on back order.
