I just got a new transmission...

... and i love it. I recommend everyone who is suffering from slippage and loss of gears to get a used tranny and have it installed. after 2.5 months of driving with only 2 gears and 2 weeks with only first, i am happy. Just one quick question, if im thinking about doing a shift kit, would I be able to install it at any time? or ideally, should i be getting it done as soon as possible? Thanks guys... and the cost of job was 1250, 550 labor 700 tranny w 55k, south flordia Broward area, it only took 2 days too which was sweet.. PM me if u need a reliable person in this area, i was searching for MONTHS

Last year, I got a used 6MT for $450 with 67k miles on it and installed myself. Was truly amazed that it was this cheap and available locally. Borrowed buddies Pathfinder and picked.

If you had the tools and patience, you could have saved a few hundred, but glad it all worked out for you.

I was overjoyed after install even though the 3rd gear crunch is evident still, it's much smoother than my 150k tranny was especially since it locked up on me.

yea as much as I love DIY projects, the transmission is really just something i didnt want to have ANY trouble with lol.. but maybe next time, if i have an extra set of hands I will attempt to tackle this project.. (hopefully not though)..

I did notice one thing after this tranny install... I went to put in gas today, and after i filled up and started the car, the engine started then died... started it again and it was fine. this has only happened about 2 or 3 times since ive had the car back, so im just wondering what could it be? maybe he didnt plug something in well enough? I know that my starter is on its way out, would that be an explanation as to why the car would start then cut out? thanks maximers

Does the tranny on the mqxima require the removal of the engine or can a shop just remove the tranny?

Trying to decide what to do with my auto tranny that seems to have a problem from 1st to 2nd over 4000 rpm
