made my own injen lol

Wanted to get a little more sound out of JWT pop charger. So made a few mods (hacksaw, rubber connections you know) to a intake pipe from autozone for honda's.

Not really location that I wanted to put it but got tired. I really would like to relocate battery and have it more in the corner. But thats for another day.

I'll have to go to track and see if it makes my time better or worse than when I had JWT just attached to Helmotz.

I'm in for helping with the battery relocation!...it'd definitely be cooler than behind the radiator.

We will do the relocate when we do your spacer install.

Do you have some kind of heat shield I dont see in the pic, because I dont think putting it behind the radiator is a good idea...

Stock Injen has no shield...laughably...and people still pay $150-200 for it to sit behind the radiator to catch the hottest air.

Ummm, not the hottest air.

It's been noted that it's cooler there than the upper portion of the engine bay, specifically where most SRI's go. It's not a CAI by any means, but it is cooler by a few degrees.

Knight put it well calling it a WAI. In either case, it's too long for the 3.5 engine, so the gains of the few degrees cooler air are negated because it's too long to acheive the proper resonance, etc for the stock manifold.

I would like to note that on the DE-K, it's actually a decent intake set up, quite a bit better than stock, even though everyone flames anyone with an Injen. The DE-K is more suited for a longer intake.

A friend of mine did an experiment and posted the results.
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...xperiment.html

Injen was 90-130 degrees...SRI was 20-30 degrees cooler.

I'm only arguing that Injen's design alone collects highest heat.

This is interesting. I like. I had a custom pieced together SRI with the velocity stack but when I went back to stock airbox I enjoyed the lack of noise. To each their own.

Nice. Because I always hear about keeping the helmotz, I'll probably end up going back to what i had which is kinda similar to yours. But I I like how you extended the filter further from maf. Usually everyone including me extends from the throttle body.

i do not believe 6'' on an intake matters performance wise.

would have to say just get ahold of some 3 inch piping and go back to your sri setup. Didnt do tuning prior to mine, but removing the injen and going with a hacked injen setup seemed a better choice on mine, noise notwithstanding of course. I currently run a 3 inch intergrated maf setup that im quite happy with and it sits well away from the radiator fans. intergrated v stack from blox and aem dryflow. get with knightzz do it once and right. your gonna want to get a means of tuning with it, but worth the effort.

I went ahead and cut it down to short ram.

For sure feels hotter (by hand) with the wanna be injen setup vs short ram toward corner. From research plus all the hot hoses and radiator there, I figured I wouldn't have it that way for long. I'll work another day on making mine probably like CMAX03's. I don't know if it was his post or someone else who talked about benefits of extending filter farther from maf.

Yeah we need to get my spacers on in a few weeks.

Basically I'm just keeping mid piping with helmholtz and my jwt pop. Quick run from 4k to redline (auto 1st gear) without helmholtz sounded real nice but with helmholtz it was back to almost breaking wrist fighting steering wheel. Seems to be more torque like some threads talked about before. Didn't try any high speed runs.

Only thing I want to know now is if there is any difference with helmholtz to pipe to throttle body or just helmholtz directly like I used to have.
