Battery disconnect & ECM reset
Battery disconnect & ECM reset
I had to remove my battery to replace the HID bulb. Battery was out for less than an hour, I think.
Will that reset the ECM? I have to get the car inspected tomorrow, and I don't think it will pass with a freshly reset ECM.

I think I'll be OK. In the EC section of the FSM, page 77, it talks about the Service Readiness test code, and that information can be lost if the ECM doesn't have power for several hours. I had the battery disconnected for less than one hour. Elsewhere in the EC section, it says that DTCs are lost from the ECM if it is disconnected for over 24 hours.
I've got a bajillion errands tomorrow, so the trip for inspection has to be first thing. It will have about 4 miles since battery reconnect. I'll let you know how it goes.

I could be wrong but I thought that for 5.5 gen's, you can't reset by disconnecting the battery. There's a procedure that you have to do to reset it or use the consult device. I think you should be safe.
Passed inspection with no problem. The shop thought it might show not ready; some cars lose their service readiness immediately. The Maxima ECM seems to take some amount of time, though. The manual says 24 hours to clear a DTC, and several hours to lose SRT code. If you're doing work that requires disconnecting the battery (like replacing an HID bulb), plan it so that the battery is out for as little time as you can, if you need to get inspected soon.
The driving pattern to get the SRT back is a minimum of 20 minutes long, if you can do everything just right.
