People with 5.5 gen 6 speed please your opinion ...
Hello everyone
I want to know (especially from those who has 2002 or 2003 Maximas 6 speed manual transmission) the normal behaviour in this issue I will write below ....
The condition is as follows :
--------------------------------
Engine temp = normal warm temp
Ambient temp = around 70F
Load on car = just me driving the car , no passemgers
Milage = 123xxx miles (bought at 118xxx with unknow maintenance)
Things repaired/replaced (long list) =
New NGK plugs + new IM gasket
New MAF sensor
Reprogrammed ECU at Nissan (for the lag issue TSB,and the new MAF)
New 2 front O2 sensors
New precats/Y-pipe + test pipe
New gear oil Amsoil 75w90
New engine oil 10w30 + Nissan oil filter (every 2-3k miles)
New radiator fluid
New air filter
Cleand throttle body
New 4 corners Tokiko blues struts + boots
New 4 Kumho tires
NO CEL (or hidden codes)
So when the car is idling . gear in neutral (as in red light or stop sign) , I depress the clutch all the way down , shift into 1st , slowly engaging the clutch with some gas , car starts to move fine and OK , til around 16-18 MPH at around 2000-2200RPM . After that if I stay in 1st the tach can reach around 2500-3000 or even more and the car bearly can make it to around 20 MPH.......So I shift to 2nd , and the exact same issue happen , speed reaches around 25 MPH at 2000-2300 RPM , and if I saty in second gear I can hit around 3000 or more with speed bearly reaching 30MPH ........ Is that normal with you guys ? do I expect the same torque in the same gear with increasing RPMs ? or there is loss in torque at some point ?
Beside that , clutch paddle is really stif and grainy after 10-20 min driving .... Is that normal ?
So can I say my clutch is bad ? it NEVER slips with the usual slipping said here and there , and RPMs never fly at any gear if I punch it really hard say in 5th at 30MPH ......
Your input is apreciated
Thanks

Who cleaned the throttle body? It's something that should be done by the dealer because it is so easy to mess up. Sounds like the throttle position sensor might be on the way out.
You say there is no CEL, did you check with a scanner? or are you assuming the bulb is not burnt out?

About the first gear and only hitting about 20 ish at 3000 rpm, what speed exactly where you expecting? First gear tops out in the high 30's or low 40's somewhere. Second gear tops out at about 60.
If you expected our car to be going 30 or 40 at 3000 rpm in first, wouldn't it not make much sense that you have little to no more acceleration at the point where you're approaching peak power?
FWIW, you can try and look at this video and compare rpm to speed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9o3OM...eature=related

TB was cleaned by myself ..... I'm not new to the forums , I know TB is very delicate in our cars ... Never touched the electric parts nor the plate , just spraying inside while it's out of the car , cleaned , dried eveything then put back everything.
thanks for the answer though.

Bulb is fine and illuminates every start up like it should...

And the fact that you were "careful" with the TB is moot. It should not be attempted by anyone except the dealer. If they **** it up they owe you a new one. If you **** it up you are out a pile of cash.
Did you do an idle air relearn after the Tb clean? If not you didn't do the TB clean properly
