This video is highly shaky, but if you crank up the volume, you can get a sense of what my exhaust sounds like inside the car with normal driving.

Yeah, that was a little tame. It would be neat to video a launch that gots WOT into 4th... I get that. But not with one of my kids as videographer. Without the right equipment, it's pretty much impossible to do this alone with a 6MT.

Although next time... Ditching the headrest is a neat look, but the visor should be up, and passenger seat all the way down.

Yeah, I pretty much agree. It's nothing at all like driving the car. It was more of a lark than anything else, to try and get an inside-the-car video... to offer up some idea of what things sound like now during normal driving. Like I said, crank the audio and you get some small sense of it.

Good effort on the video. I have a Go pro with suction mount if you want it. I can't under stand why it eats triple a's thou.

Yeah vids are hard to get right. The best is the suction mount one. In-car videos just make exhaust noise without being able to sort the details out.

Audio is not correct on that clip. I can tell by the tone of Rochester's voice.
In person, his voice is lower pitched. Therefore, the exhuast tone must be as well.

umm you said..."I know I don't know a lot about WHP, but 270 NA? No"....then you said "I highly doubt 270 NA is impossible" It's gonna be hard and I don't know if it's achievable with just bolt-ons (no internal work)" and then you "said but there are definitely 270 whp n/a vq35 maximas running around" Make up your mind noodle

no prob. I'm actually hoping you do hit your goals. I've been getting an intermittent p0430 code and am thinking of going either headers or gutting. obviously gutting being the cheaper choice.

My mechainic said if anyone in my area wants them gutted he said 300 bucks.Alot cheaper than headers and no fitment issues and no cattman pricetag either.I can't knock Brians stuff because the quality is second to none but after buying his cat back the headers were a little much but id still love to own a set just to have them.

Yes. You're replacing the signal from 2 separate sensors, so you need the dual-sim.

Keep in mind, I didn't buy mine from that place. I bought it off NmexMAX, which was an old (unused) sim from that other company. And since Hotshot still hasn't installed his sim (lazy bum), I can't vouch for it 100%.

Have we ever though about making our own sim? There's writeups on a lot of forums out there. Not sure which one will pertain to us, but I'll look for a Nissan one.

BTW Autozone sells non foulers for $5, that might be the cheapest solution.

Rochester why don't you use a GorillaPod?

http://tinyurl.com/2czg9f

I'm thinking about considering doing this cat-gutting myself if I have access to the right tools when I prep my old OEM y-pipe and main cat for removal in the next week or so...

If you came up with a sim that simply eliminates the sensors entirely, both front and rear... you could sell that thing like hotcakes at a fat camp.

Really looking forward to this. I'm interested to find out if there's any noticeable effect on fuel consumption whether good or bad.

Do you plan on using a spark plug non fouler to battle the CEL?

I would like to do this but I'd rather see some more results before doing it.

As a side question, could anyone tell me if AFR is affected when using spark plug non foulers and O2 sims?
I'm assuming it would be, but would it be important to get a tune after gutting precats to prevent the car from running too lean or rich?

The only person I saw commenting on AFR after gutted cats was 036mtmax, so I'd like to see what ranges we see in AFR after gutting cats.

Seems like everyone is using the same non-fouler size (18mm). No point in doing sims if this is a very easy fix and will retain the stock look.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-how...ouler-how.html

http://www.nissanforums.com/l31-2002...ng-header.html

Not sure what it's going to do to AFR but i'd assume it would make it richer like every other header install.

Interested to see how well it works.

Since you've gutted your precats and now so has Rochester I got a question for both of you.

Where did you guys get your gaskets and what were the part numbers?

OEM gaskets. But I don't know the part numbers off-hand. My mechanic bought them the day of the job.

It's kind of early to say but it looks like the anti foulers worked so far, Did about 60 miles and about 10 on off key cycles, without the foulers my cel would pop back on in the first 10-15 minutes of driving but we will see..If they work it was the best 5 bucks i ever spent.
