No offense to you but I feel like this is going to turn out pretty bad. The front wont match the doors and the fact that the front end will no longer be a Pearl White and the rest of the car will be.

I would have tried to buff out the finish before doing that.

FWIW, it's supposed to do that. That's part of the appeal. Pearl While gets a deep, ivory-like appearance over time. It's very classy.

Pure white, not so much.

Didn't pop the side-markers when painting, eh? Odd thing.

+1. You could've revived the paint with much less effort. A proper buff with compound and you could've brought back the luster of Pearl White.

I'd be more concerned about over-spray on my car/house/kids if I were your neighbor. Beer bottles and tape can be picked up easily. I do envy your determination, though.

If I had an urge for a DIY paint job, I would have chosen black, slightly more appealing than hospital white IMO. But...opinions are opinions. Glad you had the ***** to paint it yourself though.

Wow... Not to be a **** but I painted profesionally for 5 years and can guarantee this will not turn out good. you ruined that thing. At least spend the 30 min to take out the corner lights and headlights.. and enamel paint?? I could see doing this to a 95 maxima but an 02?

If it actually turned out good and you're still going to do the whole car spend the time to take out the door handles and chrome window trim pleeeease..

On the other hand, I'm loving those wheels. What kind are they?

Lots of negativity in this thread I've seen DIY home paint jobs come out good and sometimes even excellent, its all about how he finishes it off. We won't know if its good or bad till its done so slow down with the negativity makes me think all you guys are on your "time of the month".

Bro if he painted it black he'd have to remove all panels etc and paint inside out and thats just crazy. Thats why its always better to keep the same color saves alot of time and money.

I agree with you on this one man, except the painting it the same colour thing, simply because he DIDN'T paint it the same colour, it is a much different colour. I'll also show every little imperfection in the car because of the type of white it is (based of the pics).

Either way, all the best OP, post back with progress, and take the negativity in stride, you're into this now, just do the best you can with it!.

Oh, and take out the damn lights man, it probably took you 3x as long to tape them off as it would have to just remove them....

Dang, This makes me want to do my front end. I have a navy blue bumper and a primered hood. My car is silver (Not sterling mist). I am horrible with paint, though.

I honestly think it won't look that bad. You really should take the time to remove the easy things such as headlights and markers just as everyone else stated.

My buddy has a 00' that we are going to be repainting. He bought the car with Sap on the paint. We've tried just about everything to remove it but it's pretty much part of the car after all the years of it being sun baked into the paint. I'm curious to see how this turns out before we start working on his. I'll be doing his in an actual body shop which my uncle owns though. No need to worry about wind and such.

Keep posting updates!

I mean it won't stand out like a sore thumb when he opens his door, unlike if he painted it black and when he opens his door it looks like an oreo

I would still clear it. Enamel paint without a clear will rub off when you wax/buff/polish it, and over time will turn chalky.

Hope you're experienced with this.....I personally think you're about to open a big can of worms.....You'll actually be better off painting it in a wetdown garage!

Look good from the pics. Like others have suggested, removing some of the parts (fender, bumper, lights, etc) would make things easier painting wise.

I am actually planning to do a paint job to my front and rear bumpers. I bought new ones about a year ago and they have been garage bond since. Please do a write up on the complete job if you are planning on doing the rest of the car.
