Can anyone with a VIAS block plate explain to me the benefits?

I'm looking for a cheap first starter mod right now that may have minor gains and the engraved VIAS plate from NWP is only about $30 after shipping right now. I have no idea what this thing is supposed to do and i've done some searching and haven't found an exact explanation. NWP offers no info about this either (which is a bit frustrating, but whatever).

Can someone explain what the benefit of this is and if there are any gains, why it's ok to remove whatever you need to remove to install this, why it has no detrimental effect, and why I should I buy one?

Sell me! I wanna spend some money!

Last time I checked the search function worked fine. When I have time, either tomorrow or the day after, I'll give my personal take on it. There's a lot of misconception.
